473mL can. Pours nearly black with a fast-fading beige head. Coffee, light roast, and a bit of milk sugars on the nose. Flavour has a nice, slightly sweet coffee character, some toasted bread. Not super complex, but solid.

[2023 Vintage] On tap at Tinhouse. Pours black with a tan head. Loads of whiskey followed by dark sugars on the nose. Flavour has a pretty aggressive whiskey barrel character up front, malts and dark sugars underneath. This doesn't really work; the malts aren't robust enough to support the intense barrels.

On tap at Tinhouse. Pours black with a beige head. Toasted malts, dark sugars, bread crusts, and some iodine on the nose. Flavour is similar, more of the burnt malts and iodine coming through, a bit of booze apparent on the finish. Pretty solid porter.

On tap at Tinhouse. Poura clear gold with a white head. Dry pine and diacetly on the nose. Flavour has bitter orange peels, dry grass, and a dose of diacetyl. Not the most egregious, but pretty bad.

473mL can, pours a deep dark purple with a small pink head. Aroma has plenty of dark cherries, subtle lacto, maybe a hint of wild yeast. Flavour is simple, with lots of juicy dark cherries, lacto, and again a hint of wild yeast. Simple but juicy and fruity. Not sure why they’d referment a kettle sour—very odd choice. It’s an okay fruited sour, better than the average fruited kettle sour.

Dullish pale, not much head. Heavy whisky nose, on the palate it’s an odd mix of heavy whisky and tart peach. Strong but it’s not ineffective. One of those beers that’s better than it deserves to be.

Dark brown, not much head. This is tart, a fair bit of whiskey. So the barrel either added bugs, or is covering up the bugs. An odd product, not off but it’s just kind of all over the place.

Dull, doesn’t look good. Buttery butryic mess, the barrel doesn’t help, the age doesn’t help, acetic, just all sorts of issues here. Somehow it feels like there’s a decent base. But still. Probably a dumper.

Pale, hazy, thin head. Tart, light mango. Somewhat green, minimal lactose, but decent. Light tartness.
