12oz @ Ryan's. Appearance: dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: caramel, inky, moderate sweetness, some barrel. Taste: along the same lines, lots of caramel (that's probably coming from the BW that was in the barrels before). Overall: good one. If I wouldn't know, I would say it's a blend of Imperial Stout with Barleywine.

355mL can, pours black with small light brown head. Aroma brings out very faint bourbon barrels, light caramel, and some roast. Flavour is much the same -- the second use quality of the bourbon barrels is quite noticeable, as the barrel character is quite subdued. There's light roast, some dark fruits, and toasted caramel. A little lacking in complexity, but pleasant enough.

Power tasting at Ferris', can, vintage 2020
Amber colour a bit darker than the 2019 indeed. Both aroma and flavour are milder, more muted than in the 2019 vintage, some caramel and fudge, some vanilla, some dark notes, dark malt, dark fruits.
Ok beer, but rather messy, disjointed.

Amber colour, clean. Aroma of malt, treackle, dust, parmesan. Full bodied, but it's just moderately sweet; flavour of fudge and caramel, not the malt depth one would expect from a Barley Wine, some parmesan, oxidation, bourbon.
Doesn't stike as a Barley Wine, but it's a good beer.

12oz (thx, !) @ Farees'. Appearance: a bit hazy copper with a tan head. Aroma: fruity and caramel with a cheap bourbon note. Taste: along the same lines, much more muted than 2019 one, that's easily explainable by the 2nd use bourbon barrel. Overall: ok.

Poured from 355mL can. Clear-ish copper orange with small off-white head. Wood, sweet, caramel, touch of bourbon. Enjoy it more than the 2019 version (tried back to back).

355mL can, pours a clear dark amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out lots of barrels -- they come across like earthy, spicy rye -- along with bready malt and caramel malt. Flavour is treacly and malty, with lots of bready malt, bourbon barrels, some spicy earthiness, and toasted caramel. Low-to-moderate sweetness for a barley wine; the barrels don't impart the deepest complexity. Good, but not nearly as good as I remember the 2019 on tap.

Medium amber, no haze. Rich caramel malt character. Seems a bit thin, and has a bit of caramel as well. But comes across light. I feel like this is missing something. Could be burlier.

Clearish dark gold with a small white head. Woody and spicy with some perfumy notes. Lots of sweetness and a light woody note. Long and sticky notes. Solid.

Poured from 355mL can. Clear-ish copper with minimal off-white head and a touch of sediment. Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, feint hint of a woody herbaceous note. Okay.
