About
South East Brewing Company are the proud makers of Golden Axe Cider, KAIJU! Beer, and Coaster Beer.

Nat and Callum Reeves are the duo behind KAIJU! Beer and Golden Axe Cider. After releasing a Double IPA back in 2013 that not only got a lot of attention, but single handedly caused a statewide shortage of Simcoe hops, the brothers quickly established themselves as the original hopmasters. Since then, they have been very busy growing the KAIJU! Beer range of hop-driven beers, all made at the brewery in Dandenong South, Victoria.

Note: 2013-2015 brewed at Cavalier.

Can. Clear pale gold with a good cm of white head. Aroma of crackers, vague citrus, pepper, hints of tropical fruit. Somewhat bolder taste. Lean crackery malt, some fruit before a quite punchy spicy bitter finish. Refreshing.

Can. Very cloudy amber with a cm of white head that fades slowly. Slightly subdued peachy aroma with grapefruit, some lime leaf, bread. There's a bit more citrus upon a sip and the whole thing seems a little more vibrant. Modest to moderate bitterness but not all that much of a finish. I like the way it's quite involving but not shouty - perhaps they named it after tasting.

Can, bb 8/24. Pale gold with a white head. Aroma of lemon rind, some grapefruit, light papaya, crackers. The citrus is broader upon a taste - some orange and mandarin too. But the hops - sorry, innovative flowable hop product - don't really pop. Plainish malt is merely supporting. Dry with modest bitterness at the end.

Can. Not far off opaque brownish orange with a fluffy white that settles to a cm or so. Muffled fruity aroma of mixed citrus, pineapple, mango icecream. Not all that sweet but with an underlying tropical icecream flavour sharpened nicely by citrus towards a reasonably snappy finish. Fair enough.

On tap at Good Beer Faucets, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out bright citrus, some tropical stone fruits, light pine, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright, with a nice gentle citrus character and dry bready malt. Doesn't taste optimally fresh but decently well-done.
