Dull blonde, thin head. Quite melony, big cantaloupe. Light body, moderate bitterness. Not enough malt nor bitterness to bring any of the other flavours together. As usual I am unimpressed by this style.

Red-tinged pale brown colour and not much head. Muddled palate has lots of merlot but overtop a sweetish clean ferm there's no complementary character. The berry is light, maybe there to round things out but doesn't achieve that. Doesn't come together really.

Opaque pink, medium head. Some phenols on the palate, and a fairly light body. Restrained berry character. Not nuts about those phenols, and not enough quality in the base beer for a style that people had basically mastered by the mid-90s.

Amber-brown, no head. Bright. Mild cinnamon and a mellow malt backdrop. Decent bitterness.

Mexican Vanilla Ale from Mount Arrowsmith Brewing Company

Amber, slight haze, medium head. Aroma is slightly fruity with lots of vanilla. Mellow hop bitterness, orange and pine, and a metric fuckton of vanilla on it. It actually has a sweet and high quality character, which makes it tolerable.

Amber, bright. No head. Lots of ginger and coconut on the nose. This is overlaid on the bitter, resinous old school WC IPA, it works but mostly because the flavours are intense without being clashy.

Light brown, medium head. Toasty, decent body and bitterness, the maple lends a bit of sweetness that adds nothing. So an okay toasty porter.

Slight haze, not much head. Floral, fruity but definitely thin. More sugars would help the hops to pop.

Not much aroma. Relatively sweet, with some toasty noble hop accents. Decent but I’d like it leaner and with more bitterness…this does seem more in the Bavarian style which is not my preference in German pils.
