Bottle, picked up at Saltaire Wines, Saltaire, West Yorkshire 04-05-07. Amber in colour (maybe a bit darker) good soft fruitiness, bitterness initially feels restrained but it does linger for some time and becomes more so on the finish. Nice beer.

Bottle, picked up at Saltaire Wines, Saltaire, West Yorkshire 04-05-07. Poured a dark golden colour, good bitterness showing and quite a hoppy beer but otherwise lacking a little something.

Bottle from Saltiare Wines, Saltaire/Shipley 04-05-07.Poured golden in colour, not an awfully big aroma but according to the blurb on the bottle pine and floral aroma’s, maybe I could get some of the pine I’m not too sure. Very crisp tasting, fresh and hoppy and one of the better one’s amongst the five tried. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov16 3.7 Had this again on Cask, handpump at The JDW near the Castle site, Oxford 02.09.10 Pours warm gold with a white rim of bubbles, good malty backbone and quite thick in the mouth. This is a touch sweet but tasty with honey flavour’s showing. Not as crisp or hoppy as I recall from my previous tasting hence the slight drop in score. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle, picked up at Saltaire Wines, Saltaire, West Yorkshire 04-05-07. Like Magic Dave say’s this has a smokey roasty nose to it but with some cocoa powder and bitter coffee, all of these came through in the taste which was also quite bitter, but good for it. Really nice bottled beer that I would seek out again. 3.6 also had this recently at Cask at The Brunswick, Derby 17-08-08 Pours dark brown chocolate abounds in this cask version, very soft rasted malty flavours, the bitterness only really surfaces at the end 3.7

Bottle, picked up at Saltaire Wines, Saltaire, West Yorkshire 04-05-07. Poured copper coloured, with a nice light floral aroma, tasted a little fruity and hoppy, nice bitterness, very easy quaffing beer that whilst not offering an awful lot to the discerning palate was a nice easy drinking bitter.

Bottled. Very dark brown with reddish tones. Almost no head and little carbonation. Aroma of sweet malt with a hint of roasted coffee. Flavours of red fruits and toffee. Not much of a finish. Would echo comment about this not tasting like a 5.2% beer. Ok.

Half pint from cask at The Central Bar (Wetherspoon) in Cardiff. Dark orange coloured body with a thin white head and some laceworks. Orange fruity smell. Flavour of hops and spicies overlaid by a touch of grapefruit. Brush of bitterness in the finish. Smooth palate. (03.02.2007).

Bottled. A copper colored beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is of caramel, cream, herbs, and a bit of hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, but also some cream - a bit like candy, but soon a very bitter hoppy note comes along with a light note of herbs. The bitterness runs along the side of the tongue, and leaves it very dry in the end.

Cask handpull at Folkestone Wetherspoons. Copper colour with lasting bubbly off white head. Very earthy Fuggles through out. Really quite bitter on finish, bit of blue cheese too, in fact really quite stiltony. Malt is ok, but cold back the hop up more. Lovely blue cheese, would go well with crackers, this pint. Really quite bitter and drying. Good condition and tasted fresh.3.6/5.0 Re-rate at Kent BF 08. Brilliant malty session bitter that just isn’t made now. Nothing flashy but it’s just great, lovely subtle fruit

Cask conditioned at The Monks’ Retreat, Reading A golden coloured pint with a good cream head; medium bodied and well balanced with a citric bitterness and a pleasing finish. A very well crafted bitter.
