Sampler at brewery. One trick pony estery blonde. Too sweet with too oea apple esters and nothing to balance it. Not for me, nowadays.

Sampler at brewpub. Earthy slightly sweet soily and light. A little cleaner than I like my Scottish Ales but in the right ballpark. Also a bit sweet but all in all nice. Brown color, dont get any ruby or red tints.

Draft at brewery. What a mess. Fruity ester and phenolics dominate. A bit of a British maltiness peaking its head through the mess with dusty, earthiness. But ewww otherwise.

Sampler at brewery. Nope, not for me. A light sweet ester mixed with a dusty and slightly spicy rye. Its well attenuated abs clean, just not a mix that works for me.

Nitro at brewery. Fortunately the nitro doesn’t get in the way of the strongly roasted, yet low acidity nose. Light yet toasty. Flavor is stripped out watery roast. Clear brown color, nitro head.

Sampler at brewery. The best way for me to describe this beer is sweet tropical hops trying to cover up rough alcohol edges. The alcohol can be seen as acetone-like but its just etoh. Sweaty, slick, oily fruit hops. Attenuated enough and no caramel. Moderate bitter finish. Dial this one down a tad to get rid of the etoh and its pretty damn awesome.

Sampler at brewery. I don’t like the base beer but I really like the grapefruit. Very pulpy and sweet pink grapefruit aroma and flavor. finishes light while covering all the boring stuff and nasty stuff of the base beer. Clear gold color not much lacing.

On tap at Postdoc, pours a dark mahogany / dark brown with a large tan head. Nose is dry, with oats and toasted malt. Flavour is dry, with oats and a touch of dry cocoa underneath. Pretty ordinary, boring dry Irish stout. Meh.

On tap at Postdoc, pours a hazy dark orange amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out a big caramel malt component upfront, balanced with a big resinous hop profile. Flavour is on the sweeter side with lots of caramel malt, sweet candied sugar and only a subdued resinous hop component. Unbalanced and too sweet. Needs refining.

On tap at Postdoc, pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of fresh oranges and other citrus fruits, resinous hops and a big caramel malt base. Flavour is well-balanced between resinous hops and caramel malt. Robust hops over top a big malt backbone that thankfully doesn't cloy. Well-done IPA.
