This Märzen poured a cloudy, deep amber colour with a white, soapy head. Minimal lacing. Scents include over ripe fruit, caramel, minute fruit vinegar and Worcester sauce maybe? First swig was nice and smooth with flavours of rich malts and is not overly hopped. Finish is mildly sweet with very minimal hop flavour.

This Brown ale poured a deep dark amber colour with a soapy, minimal head. No lacing. Scents include sweet malt, caramel, toast and a little nuts. First swig was quite thin with almost a homebrew flavour with it. Flavours of caramel,coughdrops and toast most prominent. finish is lightly smokey with caramel flavours lingering.

This lager poured a clear, light amber colour with a soapy head. Zero lacing. Scents include light vinegar, a little malt and some basement aromas. First swig was really thin and watery. Flavours of dough, light malt and cereal most prominent. Finish is a little malty with those basement aromas lingering. I want to say this one is off but flavour wise it doesn’t seem to be. Just weak, not undrinkable but watery.

This IPA poured a deep amber colour with a huge off white head. Minimal lacing. Scents include grass, citrus and hay. First swig was quite heavy in the hop department. Other flavours of honey, and caramel. Finish is quite bitter with malt flavour lingering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clean amber colour with a fluffy-creamy warm cap that leaves good lacing. Aromas of caramel malts with red ale notes and cheap hops that gives out this sharp burnt grass unbalanced with toffee, vegetables. The taste is also not well-blended with the veggies, bad grasses, burnt grains and even vanilla. Sounds nice, but it isn’t. The only good thing here is not infected.

A cautionary tale: Once there was a man (old enough to know better) who walked into the LCBO to see what was new in the beer cooler. Once inside, he realized that he had left his phone and access to RateBeer in the car. Undaunted, he picked this can off the shelf and decided that it is always a good idea to try a new Ontario Pale Ale (how bad could it be he rationalizes). With his purchase in hand he returns to his vehicle and looks up the ratings for his new acquisition and notes that they are generally unfavourable. Maybe those folks were just having a bad day he thinks. It turns out he was right;those folks WERE having a bad day - they had bought this beer. Moral of the story: Go back to the car and get your phone. Can from the LCBO. Crystal clear light copper under a thin off white head. Nose is fruit, burnt sugar and paper bag. Medium sweet caramel with just a hint of grassy bitterness and a metallic undertone. Mouth is medium with soft carbonation and a lingering tinny finish. 4/3-/4-/3-/6
