Ok, I’m stumped on this one. I’ve had a beer with exactly this name (5.1% alcohol at the Klašterni Restaurant Strahov (not the pivovar)). Poured a fine hazy golden colour with a medium sized white head. Sweetish clovey nose, light banana. Light taste dominated by a light hoppy bitterness, dusty, dry, letting on some sweat weak cloves. Soft, watery, unimpressive but drinkable. Same thing? Doesn’t seem so according to the other rates.

On draught: Almost black with a lot of ruby sparks, firm, lacy beige head; a lot of roasted malt detectable in the solid malty-hoppy nose; moderate to solid, relatively dry, bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, smooth; slightly lingering, dry again, roasty-malty finish, rounded by asubtle fruitiness. Very good stuff..........

Draught at Zlý Časy beer festival, May 23, 2009As "Matuska sv"Slight hazy golden color, fluffy off-white head. Dominating butterscotch scent. Malty, herbal hoppy taste, butterscotch aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.

Draught@GBBF2009 (as Matuska Pils, correct me if this is not it). Pale golden colour, small white head. Aroma is vegetably, sweet malty as well as some grassy hopping. Flavour is caramel malts, some earth, grassyness and also mild notes of yeast.

Draught@GBBF 2009 ( my guess is that it is this one). Slightly hazy yellow, small white head. Sweetish malty, hoppy aroma. Sweet malts, Saaz hops and rubber in the flavor. Typical unfiletered Czech pils, quite sweet. Ok.

Draught@GBBF. Hazy yellow color, good white head. Citrusy, wheaty, bubblegum aroma. Lots of wheat, spices, bubblegum in the flavor. Sweetish finish. Excellent weizen.

Draught. Mild spicy aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. Small stable white head. Spicy and lemony flavour, good level of clove. A little phenolic in the finish, but starts off very nice. Better than most German Weizens.

Draught. Nice hoppy aroma, grassy. Small white head. Good grassy hop flavour, reminding me of an American IPA, only a little less flavourful. Very nice surprise in Czech Republic.

draught at Zly Casy Beer Festival 2009. This is a beer brewed at Strahov’s Martin Matuska’s brand new brewery in Broumy. Amber colour (although called svetly, it looks like a good polotmavy), hazy, large off-white head that is very creamy. Malty start with a lot of honey. Very hoppy in the middle and the lingering dry finish. Superb.
