Description
Carlsberg’s brewery in Valby, Copenhagen was founded by JC Jacobsen on 10th November 1847.

In 1970, Carlsberg merged with the other leading Danish brewery, Tuborg. Carlsberg Danmark became a fully owned subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group in 2000 and merged with Coca-Cola Tapperierne Danmark in 2001.

Carlsberg has also owned the Wiibroe brewery in North Zealand since 1964 and began brewing Wiibroe beer in 1998.

Carlsberg Danmark is the country’s leading producer and supplier of beer and soft drinks. Carlsberg, Tuborg and Coca-Cola are among the strongest brands in Denmark, giving Carlsberg a 63% share of the beer market and 50% of the soft drinks market.
Address is office only. Production site address: Vestre Ringvej 111, 7000 Fredericia.

Carlsberg Danmark is also enjoying great success in the fast developing speciality beer market. Through the Semper Ardens series, launched in 1999, the Jacobsen Brewhouse, which opened in 2005, and the Kongens Bryghus series, launched in 2007, it has gained a leading position in the sector.

At the end of 2008, Carlsberg Danmark moved all production from its Valby site in Copenhagen to the Carlsberg brewery in Fredericia, thus leaving the industrial Valby site open for a town development project.

7/5/2024. Can bought at Netto Niels Brock Gade, Copenhagen. 2024 version. Enjoyed from the can at my hotel, classy like. Boozy but relatively drinkable malt liquor / imperial pilsner. Kind of wish there was a park bench outside the hotel so I could have enjoyed its full effects.

Can 33 cl. Pours a clear golden with a neat, white head. Faint, dusty hop aroma. Medium body, some sweet maltiness and then nothing much really. No real hoppiness. Surprisingly poor to be honest. 060524

Now at 3.4% in UK cans. This might merit it's own entry. Nose sweet, light malt, stale. Taste is very watery; light corn, malt, cardboard, slightly bitter. I don't have notes on the 4.6% beer, but this is absolutely atrocious. Even by the low standards of a macro larger this is shockingly bad. It tastes of almost nothing and what taste is there, makes you wish there was less of it.

Amazed this grubby little can of filth isn't reviewed. Nose is caramel, malt slightly musty cupboard, very faint corn. Taste is sweet caramel, corn, soft sweet finish with more corn. There are worse
