Guanxi pale ale 5.3% 37 IBU On tap at Arrow Factory’s Taproom by Stuff’d. A very bright orange that is crystal clear, thesevguyskustvbr filtering their beers as they look beautiful. It has a sweet malty aroma with white pepper and rye. Medium bodied and smooth. The taste gave me a hit of popcorn or roasted barley but it was insanely brief and was followed by well balanced hops and malts kind of midway between the British snd US styles. Fun and decent. 3.4

On tap at the brewpub. Clear Amber orange with a nutty caramel aroma. The medium to light body however delivers a dry earthy tangy flavor with minerality and rye. Tasty. 3.3-3.4

Vom Faß (als English Pale Ale) im Arrow Factory Taproom, Jianchang Hutong. - Rotbraun, gut trüb. - In der Nase Karamel, englischer Hopfen, Vanille. - Im Antrunk dito. Schön fruchtig hopfenherb aber nicht aggressiv gehopft wie ein IPA, sondern rund und vornehm, anfangs sogar etwas zu sehr zurückhaltend. Ein wenig zu rezent (wohl schlecht gezapft). Abgang gut bitter. - Sehr schönes, rundes englisches Ale, das mit jedem Schluck besser schmeckt. (Verkostung: 11.7.2016.)
Neuverkostung: 29.10.2016, vom Faß im Arrow am Liangma-Fluß. - Mild karamelmalzig mit kräftigem englischen Hopfen, der leicht florale und kräftig zitrusfruchtige (Pampelmuse) Aromen mit wuchtig-harziger Bittere verbindet. - Vorzügliches, aromatisch gehopftes aber doch rundes Bier.

Vom Faß im Arrow Factory Taproom, 31.10.2015. - Dunkleres Orangegelb, gut trüb. - Nase schwach obergärig fruchtig-säuerlich-malzig, schwach angebrannte Note. - Antrunk schaumig leicht und zunächst etwas leer. Etwas Karamel, ganz leicht säuerlicher Anflug, milde krautige Herbe. Zu stark rezent, dünn im Mund. Etwas wäßriger, schwach bitterer Nachtrunk mit schwachen moosig-muffigen Zügen. - Nach dem ausgezeichneten Guanxi Pale Ale genossen, fällt dieses Bier deutlich ab. Vielleicht nur überlagert oder schlecht gezapft? Jedenfalls kein Genuß.

Vom Faß im Arrow Factory Taproom, Peking, 31.10.2015. - Hell orangegelb, leicht trüb, sahniger Schaum. - In der Nase deutliche aber noch angenehme Grapefruit. - Im Antrunk ebenfalls prominente aber runde Grapefruit, dazu zarte Honig- und Karamelnoten. Mild rezent, sahnig weich, sehr süffig. Im Abgang mehr aromatischer Hopfen von derselben Sorte, leicht harzig. Langer, trocken-bitterer Nachtrunk. - Sehr schönes, aromatisch aber nicht aufdringlich pampelmusig gehopftes Pale Ale.

Vom Faß auf dem Beijing 2nd Autumn Craft Beer Festival, 26.9.2015. - Goldbraun, trüb. - In der Nase angenehme leichte Ingwer-Note über guten Hopfenaromen. - Im Antrunk deutliche aber keineswegs penetrante Ingwer-Note, ausgewogene Hopfenherbe (etwas Grapefruit, etwas Nadelwald) und blasses Malz. Mild rezent, glatt, leicht mineralisches Mundgefühl. Erinnert in seiner Süffigkeit an ein Oberpfälzer Zoigl. Im Abgang gediegene Hopfenherbe und ein Hauch von Pfeffer. Den Ingwer schmeckt man zuletzt gar nicht mehr. - Sehr gut gehopftes, rundes, enorm süffiges Bier mit origineller Ingwer-Note, die aber keineswegs dominiert, sondern ein ohnehin schon gutes Bier nur noch ein wenig interessanter macht.

Keg at Stuff’d, Beijing. Cloudy nut brown, creamy head. Tea-like grapefruit aroma with notes of butter. Sweet with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Some syrup, peppery grapefruit peels. Honey, ripe fruit. Piney resiny grapefruit peel bitterness.
