Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Hazy light orange with small white head. Aroma is herbal hops, medium body, low carbonation, and very little lacing. Taste is herbal hips and bitter finish.

Bomber at 8% from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours bright gold with a white head. Aroma is a bit dank with lots of cooked stone and tropical fruits. Med + body. Flavor is rather dank, with something cooked/roast caramel, and a lot of bitter grapefruit, maybe pineapple, certainly unusual fruits. It is bitter. My tongue has surrendered. Great impact, taste wise. You want it bad, you get it bad here. Bad = bitter! Yum!

Three pints on tap at the Dana Point Board and Brew outlet on Golden Lantern, 2nd June 2015. Nice red hue to the brews looks, a weak, thin head appeared on all three pours. Malt lead to the nose with a semi-sweet caramel feel, taste also malty: good hop balance and a very easy to drink brew (hence the three pints0.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is sweet malt and yeast. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet with a toffee caramel malt, light burning alcohol palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. A great example of the style but I’m not a big fan of big alcoholic Tripel’s.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with a dark tan smear. Aroma is chocolate, alcohol, and mixed whiskey aroma - I think rye predominates. I love a combination of chocolate and alcohol, and rye is the cherry on top. Near full bodied. Flavor is chocolate and dark malt, not very sweet. Chocolate gets earthy, and I’m not having an easy time finding rye. Now bourbon seems to predominate. Seems to have a hint of bitter. Coffee is identifiable, tho for me the chocolate is stronger. Finally I think I’m getting rye spice. Wood? Maybe. But the flavors are so strong and mixed it’s hard to find wood. I can imagine this could be so much better (cherries!). As is, it’s merely quite excellent. A non-sugary IS with lots of flavors. Alcohol in aroma doesn’t translate to heat in the liquid. Interesting that. Put this one on your BA bucket list.

From a 355ml bottle on 5/5/2015. Pours a slightly opaque deep golden with a small head. Has a lovely hoppy aroma, featuring stone fruit, tropical fruit and grapefruit, with some floral notes in there as well. Take a sip and there’s some light biscuity malt, followed by lots of sweet peach and apricot, with a big, satisfying, grapefruity hops providing the balance. Full bodied with average carbonation. A very harmonious, enjoyable IPA.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark amber/bit ruddy. Off-white smear. Aroma is lightly smoke and lightly bourbon. Med body. Flavor is mildly smoky, lightly bourbon, a little malty. Finishes not very dry, smoky and mildly bourbon. Nice, but not overly exciting.

This is pretty well done, if a touch imbalanced. Lots of roast, a sharp bitter malt aroma. Dark chocolate but no sweetness. Pours black with mocha head and decent lacing. Medium bitter finish. Bottle from Total Wine.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours gold with white head. Aroma is citrus. Med body. Flavor is fruity hop forward. Followed by some mild malt. It’s very fresh and clean and makes a strong flavor impact. Finishes towards dry, somewhat bitter. Meanwhile the hop moved towards floral.
