On tap at Steamworks Mt Pleasant, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of espresso beans, light cocoa, some vanilla, and roast—smells promising. Flavour is disappointingly lifeless, with dry espresso, maybe some cocoa, maybe some vanilla. The malt just isn’t there. Looks good, smells decent, tastes completely neutered. Weak.

473mL can. Piurs clear blonde with a white head. Bright, crisp pine, cracker malts, and light juicy tropical fruit on the nose. Flavour has a nice piney hop expression with some light tropical citrus notes and a crisp malt base. Very nicely done.

Gold, medium head, balanced, pine, light grapefrut, clean pale malt. Solid, balanced. Yeah.

Pale yellow, some haze, thick head. Great lacing. This one’s really good, light and bright with stone fruit, sweet malt, lychee. Moderate bitterness. Super drinkable, great balance. Top notch example.

Toasty, clean dark sugar, just a touch, off-dry with herbaceous hop, and just a moderate bitterness. Teases a Black IPA character, but it’s not.

Bright gold, thick head, earthy, some sulphur, sort of green tasting, mushroomy note. Medium bitterness.

Slight haze, thick head, somewhat oniony character, light biscuit note, lowish bitterness, maybe not my favourite hop character.

Bright, medium head. Has a nice honeyish note, some bitter piney accents, good balance.

Dark brown with a nice frothy head. The aroma has some butter…the palate not so much, more on the really dry toastiness thing. Doesn’t bring much complexity…it takes a special schwarzbier to do that.

On tap at Steamworks Mount Pleasant. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Nice punch of bright pine, citrus, and tropical fruit on the nose. Flavour has bright pine, resins, tropical fruits; very vibrant hops. The malts are clean, but maybe a touch lacking. Great WC IPA.
