Against the approval of his peers and established tradition, he’s taken thousands of years of brewing rituals, mixed it with passion and purpose to produce the Troubled Monk Beer. Attitude and tradition have come together to inspire us to make some of the tastiest handcrafted beer available. Fresh and unfiltered, just like Trouble himself! Continuing in Trouble’s footsteps we aim to produce local, high quality, delicious craft beer right here in Central Alberta.

473ml can. Pours a clear amber-red with a small, foamy, short lived, off-white head that leaves spotty lacing. Mild, slightly sweet aroma of blueberry, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy pale malt, blueberry, earthy yeast and grassy hops in a dry, acidic, slightly tart finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Meh, a little bland.

473ml can. Pours a clear red brown with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Mild, sweet aroma of toasted caramel malt, oatmeal, cinnamon and raisin. Sweet flavour of toasted caramel malt, brown sugar, cinnamon, oatmeal, molasses, raisin and light nuts in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not bad, it does remind me of oatmeal raisin cookies.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold with a medium, foamy, short lived, white head that laces. Mild aroma of grainy pale malt, orange and earthy yeast. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy pale malt, pineapple, orange, earthy yeast and faint floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Pretty crushable. A gateway IPA.

473ml can. Pours a crystal clear gold with a medium, foamy, short lived, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of crackery pale malt, orange, grapefruit, cantaloupe, earthy yeast and light piney hops. Sweet fruity flavour of crackery pale malt, orange, grapefruit rind, mango, cantaloupe, pineapple and earthy yeast in a dry, bitter, piney hop finish. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Hmmm...well I’ve got some juicy gossip for ya. It’s definitely not a NEIPA! Off-style, but it is a tasty IPA.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy red-orange with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, candi sugar, toffee, fig, raisin, bourbon and oak. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, toffee, plum, fig, candi sugar, vanilla and oak in a dry, mild bitter, bourbon warming finish. Full body with a sticky, oily texture and average carbonation. Nice complexity. This has aged well.

Mug, 0.5 l, draught, drunk at Park Distillery Restaurant + Bar, trip to the International Population Data Linkage Network conference, savoured on September 13 2018; eye: mahogany, semi-opaque, good sheet of tan head, good lacing; nose: roasting, nuts, chocolate, coffee, malt, light caramel; mouth: roasting, nuts, chocolate, coffee, malt, light caramel, light astringency, finale in coffee with presence of nuts, medium body, good carbonation, mildly bitter, lightly sweet, slick texture; overall: nice surprise

Sweet flavour of grainy wheat malt, lemon, bubble gum, Belgian yeast and coriander in a dry, floral hop finish. Light body with a thin, watery texture and soft carbonation. Pretty simple, easy to drink.

355ml can. Pours a hazy pink-red with a large, foamy, long lasting, light pink head that leaves plenty of lace. Tart aroma of bready malt, cherry and floral hops. Sweet flavour of bready pale malt, cherry, guava and floral hops with a dry, tart finish. Light body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty, refreshing and easy to drink. A great patio beer.
