Description
Historic ties to Portland run deep within Old Town. Opening its doors as a family-run pizzeria in April of 1974, Old Town Pizza became a hub for like-minded people with a radical agenda. It stood as a beacon for the local community; a place to break bread and enjoy your neighbor. Over 40 years later, not much has changed in that regard. Built within the heart of the historic Old Town neighborhood, inside one of Portland's oldest standing buildings (The Merchant Hotel), Old Town Pizza & Brewing is a relic of past and present.

Adam Milne, a devoted Old Town Pizza customer, celebrated his ninth birthday at the restaurant and immediately fell in love. That experience stuck with him until 2003, when he purchased the downtown pizzeria from the Accuardi family. In 2008, Adam built a second location in the Northeast district of Portland, in his very own neighborhood, which would soon become Old Town Brewing. To compliment the rich historic build of the downtown pizzeria, the new location was constructed using reclaimed materials that circa'd the 1800-1900's, evoking an atmosphere of Northwest authenticity and sustainability. Three years later, OTB began filling its first tanks with beer. With a passion for community, it was only a matter of time before Milne discovered that same passion inside the beer community. This driving force has lead to two major expansions, a number of prominant awards, packaged beer, distribution, new jobs, and a deep obsession to make some of the world's best beer possible.

Taster at downtown taproom. Hazy golden with nonexistent head, some streaky lacing. Light orange aroma, very light, taste too, is some oranges and a bit of zing form orange peel. Kind of weak throughout, not even close to being juicy.

Taster at downtown taproom. Hazy golden with small lasting silky head, lacing coats the glass. Light fruity aroma, lemons, general citrus notes. Taste falls off a bit, gets grainy, similar to their lagers. Not very bitter. Gorgeous looking, inviting aroma and goes downhill from there.

Taster at downtown taproom. Orang-y golden hue with sant head. Put this one in as fruit beer as the lager wasn’y As prominent as it was in the Beta-Carrotene. More of the cranberries through out, and a bit of lime zest and associated citric bitterness. A birt of the lager is evident at the very back.

Taster at downtown tap room. Medium golden with ring of white head. Ginger comes through on the nose, like a ginger ale (ha,that’s funny). Feels nice and slick, nice consistency. Not too much of the carrots evident, mostly the ginger and decent lager base beer.

Taster at downtown tap room. Pale, clear golden pour with small tight, white head. Grainy, corny aroma and taste. Again, does not have the crisp hop finish the style is know for. Sweet, and some residual dull bitterness.

Draft at Chinatown location. Brifght, clear golden, streaky lacing, spotty head. Faint grainy aroma, taste picks up a bit, more of the grains, faintest amount of hops. Labeled as a parent-prohibition lager, so its more of a lager than a pils.

Taster at Loyal Legion. Hazy golden with skin of head. Aroma is light hoppy notes that grows stronger in the taste. Citrus Pell, lightly. Still a NEIPA at it's core , 4/15/18 Taster at brewpub. This si not the beer I got at Loyal Legion. Not a NEIPA, medium amber with small tight head. English IPA through and through. Malt forward, dry, tannic. Still kind of subdued. Knocked down a point as I’m finding all of their beers are a bit lacking.
