Description

4th July 2019, on-tap in 2Be, Brugge. Pale golden body, clean and clear; on top a smooth white head. A little on the sweet side for the style but it's not a problem to me. Light bitterness arrives towards the end of each sip, very little aroma.

Brown with a thin, foamy head. Aroma full of prunes and balsamico. Taste is sweet up front, full of plum juice and beet root sweetness. Goes quickly sour though, with the balsamico dominating the end. Thick, syrupy body with a carbonation that is prickly but not over aggressive. Not my favorite style, but a nice dessert beer on a warm night.

16 February 2019. At Cambrinus, Bruges. Cheers to the family! Pours clear golden with a lasting, small, foamy, off-white head; some lacing; fizzing. Aroma of coriander, mouldy banana & orange, white bread, white sugar, yeast, pepper, white cabbage. Taste is medium fruity sweet, notes of overripe banana, apple, orange & lots of white sugar with that, some 'crude' yeast & grain initiate a medium spicy bitterness that brings coriander, pepper & something weirdly vegetable-like. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, more spices, yeast & white sugar. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Totally unrefined, this adds nothing to the Belgian beerscape. So far no 'Ploegsteert' has impressed me...

330ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Tart-ish, fruity, minimally spicy aroma, notes of morello, sweet cherry, a touch of raspberry vinegar. Taste is sweet-and sour fruity, minimally slightly sugary, minimally tangy, notes of morello, sweet cherry, raspberry sherbet. Slightly too sweet, minimally artificial, sugary. Not top of the style, but quite solid.

330ml bottle. Barely clear, orangey golden colour with average to huge, fluffy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, biscuity malty and fruity aroma, hints of apricot and peach. Taste is sweet-ish, biscuity malty, fruity, slightly citrusy hoppy, notes of apricot and peach, some lemon, lime and lemon tea, some hop bitterness. Refreshing despite the sweetness - nice.
