A reddish copper barley wine with a thin super lacing brown head. In aroma, a treacle vinous malt with smooth warming alcohol, light piney hops, a bit musky. In mouth, a nice smooth sweet caramel malt with treacle notes, floral and resinous hops, warming alcohol, nice. On tap at Rattle’n’Hum, Sept 21, 2012.

A deep dark brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, a lightly spiced and herbal caramel, with light ginger notes. In mouth, a rather strange mix of chocolate, light coffee and sugar, a bit thin, not what was expected. On tap at Rattle’n’Hum, Sept 21, 2012.

Location: Draft at the Pacific Standard, 9/8/12
Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, with some coffee and chocolate
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a fairly small head atop it
Flavor: The taste is heavy roasted malts, light sweet, and dry roasted finish
Palate: The body is medium-plus, with average carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: This one was a very solid, roasty Porter. I enjoyed this one, a quite solid example of the style.

On tap at the Cask Bar & Kitchen, Manhattan - 01/03/12. Poured a dark brown with a tan coloured head. On the nose - roasted malts, cocoa, coffee and a puff of smoke. Taste as nose - add a little dark fruit, quite complex for a 4.7% ABV porter. Medium bodied and a smooth finish. Good well rounded and tasty porter for sub 5%!

Location: Draft at the Breslin, 8/3/12
Aroma: It is mostly citrus and mostly fruity, with some light malt and some other hop notes
Appearance: This one pours a clear caramel-orange color with a small head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is light sweet and light-medium bitter, with a fairly light bitterness for style
Palate: The body is light, with some creaminess, and it finishes semi-dry with a lengthy duration
Overall Impression: Interesting offering. The light hop bitterness works nicely here, and it is a solid and drinkable one. I wavered a bit on this score, but I ultimately settled here. If anything I may have been a bit generous, but this score felt about right.
