Bottle tasting courtesy of Colin at Craft Clerkenwell (thanks Colin!) Friday 24th April 2015 Pours very dark brown almost black with a tan head. Lovely bourbon nose not to pushy, warming alcohol a little more in mouth, some beefy stock picked up on the nose. Soft in the mouth but despite what I was expecting I did not get the full on thick mouthfeel and anticipated velvetyness. In fact the bourbon was a little ragged in the mouth and came across more than I expected and this also tasted a little thinner, also I was really surprised that it was nigh on 11%. In the mouth there is a smooth vanilla and wood get together going on and some chocolate and coffee have a little dalliance, I liked this and wanted to be ’wowed’ but in the end though it was just good as opposed to being great Thanks again Colin for letting me try this. Bottle split at Pedro leaving drinks, from an IP trade, as 007 24/04/15. Pitch black with a decent dirty tan head that retains well. Nose is rich roast, spice, bourbon strains, charr, treacle toffee, chocolate. Taste comprises cocoa powder, big bourbon strokes, treacle toffee, charr, chocolate fudge, malt. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a subtle booze streak. Decent BA impy, bourbon not so subtle at times but a pretty balanced affair all told.
