Location: 22 oz bottle from BRC Gastropub, 12/11/13, as 007 Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter
Aroma: The nose is bourbony and a little sweet, roasted malts, coffee! and plenty of smoke
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a frothy brown head and heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is more roasty and smokey then sweet, bourbony, with a fairly bitter close
Palate: Has a medium body (feels light in this style), soft carbonation, and a little heat
Overall Impression: Very new example of the style. I enjoyed this beer. It is pretty darn easy to drink with this level of booziness and ABV. It doesn't feel 10+% at all. I'd love to cellar one, I think this would age well. I'm not sure this is a Connery level 007, but it's certainly leaps and bounds above a Dalton!

Aroma: The nose is full of resiny hop goodness, pine, citrus, and some caramel malts too
Appearance: It pours a hazed dark orange color with a thick, frothy off-white head
Flavor: Tastes plenty of hoopy as well, not super bitter, but nice bitterness, with mild sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, clean feel, soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was excellent. I'm a fan of the base beer, but the double dry hopping may have made it even better, particularly in the nose. The aroma is very hoppy and really just wonderful. Nothing bad to say here.

Appearance: It pours an amber-orange color with a frothy head and decent lace
Flavor: Tastes much like the nose, some medium-plus bitterness and some sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it is a little sticky, with a solid mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid IPA. It seems to be the go to IPA on draft at quite a few local restaurants, and I am just fine with that.

Aroma: The aroma is full of Christmas spices, cinnamon, chocolate, etc.
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a decent tab head on it
Flavor: The taste is much the same, heavy on the spice, some cake, plenty of sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a decent feel, and a long finish on the mouth
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty darn solid spice beer. Another really enjoyable offering from Karbach. This is pretty cool. Also, great name.

22oz bottle-trade with djd07, shared with jtc-foamy tan-mahogany. A-nutmeg, vanilla, oak, med malt-roasty, dk fruit. T-roasty/chocolate-med/dk malt, black walnut, bourbon/oak, some spice. Balanced.

Hazy golden and peach coloured body with a rich, thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, resin, grassy and herbal hops with a large perfume smell and some light sweetness. Full-bodied; Resinous flavour with a big piney and grassy flavour, some deep piney and bitter malty notes at the end with a well-balanced sweetness. Aftertaste shows a lot of hoppiness, some sweetness and a nice smooth malty flavour that shows well. Overall, a good Imperial IPA with a lot of focus on resin and deep hop bitterness with a solid malt character and some light sweetness. Great to try and well worth bringing back from Texas. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Central Market in Houston, Texas on 10-August-2013 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 23-November-2013.

On tap at Yard House Houston. It pours a hazy, orange-brown body under a thin light beige head leaving curtains. The aroma is very fruity and piney, grapefruit, some resins and peach and a faint meaty touch too. It’s pleasantly carbonated, medium to full bodied, and medium dry. It’s quite bitter, grapefruit, pine cones and some peach hints, as well as citrus peel and some malty notes. Lasting finish almost entirely on the hoppy side. Overall it’s a nice beer, tasteful and easy drinkable, but lacking some depth. 131112
