Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, thick, three centimetre tall, nice and frothy tan head. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, oatmeal, nuts, caramel and tons of nice hops layered with pine, grass, herbs and a bit of resin. Medium-bodied; Deep dark malt flavour with roasty notes, some earthiness, but a lot of caramel and even slightly smoked malt grain flavour with a nice hop backbone showing pine and grass with a smooth, but deep finish. Aftertaste shows a great blend of stronger and grassier hops meshed perfectly with the roasty malt, nut and smoke/burnt notes that would couple well with barbecue. Overall, a nice black IPA with tons of flavour and complexity, all showing a great balance. Great to sample and I wish I could get this locally - a very well made Black IPA that shows well throughout - I’m very glad I brought this home with me from Texas. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Central Market in Houston, Texas on 10-August-2013 for US$5.35 sampled at home in Washington on 17-October-2013.

This brew is a brownish-amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that recedes gradually to a film. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of pumpkin and roasted malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of pumpkin spices, graham cracker and roast malt. The finish is sweet with a toasted pumpkin and ginger aftertaste, Pretty good overall.

Sample at Anvil Bar & Refuge. The beer is a clear dark orange-amber color with a thin off-white head that evaporates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt and mild hops. Light-bodied with flavors of grainy malt, caramel and grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Location: 22 oz bottle from a Spec's, 10/2/13

Aroma: The nose is roasted and German-style malts, some vegetation, and spice
Appearance: It pours a medium brown color with a fizzy head that dissipates to a beige sheet
Flavor: The taste is malty and roasty, not particularly sweet, not too pumpkiny, but plenty of spice
Palate: Medium bodied, with a fairly clean feel, smooth but a little tingly, and a mildly dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is a solid spice/herb/vegetable beer, but not a really pumpkin-filled pumpkin beer. I like it, and I think Karback makes quality beers, but this one is not a standout in the category.

Location: Cans from Spec’s - Galleria, 9/16/13

Aroma: The nose is light and clean, bread, toast, some grass, light fruit
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a small white head a mild, spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet, clean malts, and some light-plus grassy hop bitterness
Palate: Light and clean body, soft-to-mid carb, easy drinking, not watery, finishes clean and dry
Overall Impression: This is a solid , clean, drinkable, and light summer beer. Well made for the season with a nice hop presence. It may be a touch dull at points, but I could see this as a great outdoor beer on a hot day for sure.

Clear amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Palate is slightly soft. Creamy malt base. Mild tangerine - orange hops, fruity but no real bitterness. Neutral finish. All right but a little bit on the polite side.

Clear dark amber beer. Smooth palate with mild carbonation. Smooth malt, trace of toffee. Rich marmalade hops with lesser red berry fruits, pine and grass. Finishes slightly gum numbing. Not bad.

Location: 12 oz can at Prego, 8/27/13, Rating #3150

Aroma: The nose is clean and malty, some bread/toast, a little caramel, and some hops
Appearance: It pours a deep golden-amber color, some nice, frothy head, and decent lacework
Flavor: The flavor is clean and malty, not too sweet, well balanced, with a good lager flavor
Palate: It has a clean, crisp mouthfeel, a light-medium body, smooth and very easy drinking
Overall Impression: This is a really well-made sessionable lager. I was impressed by this one. In general, I've been impressed by Karbach. Sometimes I think if a brewery can make a good Lager that shows more than making a really good Imperial Stout. This is a heck of a Lager.

On tap. It’s a clear, golden beer with a white head. The aroma is a bit weak, with grass, some pine cones and pale malts. There’s some bitterness in the flavor, less than I would like in a summer ale though, and it’s too heavily carbonated, making it quite filling. Medium body, quite dry. Pale malts in the back, grass, some generic fruits and a touch of pine cones in the flavor. Rather short finish. Well... too boring for my likings. 130826
