Description
An independent, family-run brewery for over 110 years. True Belgian craftsmanship. That's Haacht Brewery.

On June 14, 1898 Eugène De Ro brewed his first top fermentation beer. Four years later he also started brewing bottom fermentation beer. His beers were such a hit that ‘Haecht’s Dairy Company and Brewery’ became one of the best Belgian breweries in 1913. In the fifties and sities there were numerous small takeovers and the Haacht Brewery beers were being distributed across the entire country. Thanks to the take-overs of breweries in the south of the Netherlands and northern France, Haacht Brewery set foot ashore in neighboring countries. In 1990, Haacht Brewery started the complete replacement of its production apparatus; the whole process was completed around 2015. Today, Haacht Brewery is a state-of-the-art brewery, inspired by its history and at the same time more than ready for the future.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Clear gold with small white top, nice consistency. Not much on the aroma, some grains, grass, hay, some sweetness. Taste of cereals, candied fruit middle and a grassy-floral bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, semi-drying, aggressive carbonation. Its ok.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. Cloudy golden colour with a decent sized fluffy white top. Aroma of wheat grains, coriander and lemon peel - decent freshness to it all. Taste of grains and a lemon freshness mixed in with the herbal notes. Semi dry but with a refreshing quality. Tasty.

Bottle from Beers of Europe now just labelled 'Ommegang Tripel'. Clear light gold with good sized white foam but recedes down quite quickly. It has a light grainy malt aroma for the strength with citrus coming through. Very bitter gold, citric and resinous, a hint of caramel through the malts. Medium bodied, slick and fizzy. A bit disappointing considering the strength but I do like the punchy bitterness.
