Pours dark amber with a thick white head. Aroma has mild grapefruit notes. Taste has slightly resinous hops with a dry malt backbone. Palate has pine resin. Good. Light for such a diesel.

4 pack from the brewery. Mild oats, mild chocolate, no coffee hints. Body is a bit thin. Not a bad oatmeal stout. Was expecting a tad more beef.

Can served at the brewery. Aroma and flavor are the same. Grainy, floral, crisp texture. Good.

Got in a trade with brutalfarce. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. No warming alcohol for 8.4%. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the mellowly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Awesome Citra, Mosaic, Idaho 7 profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a nice balancing bready wheat/oat/malt malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Very well attenuated for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example.

Taster pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is clear, light brown with mild sparkle, thin cap of off-white head with fair retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is mild citrus, hard-to-place spiciness (?allspice?) and northwest hops. Taste is mild citrus balanced with cracker malts. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not a particular standout so, as a beer, this won't go down in the annals of craft beer history but kudos to Bad Sons and all the other participating brewers (and Sierra Nevada for the inspiration) for a charitable effort that WILL go down in the annals of craft beer history.

Taster pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is interesting dark brown (like a mix of root beer and dirty water), with beige head with fair retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is roasted cereal (Cheerios), slightly ashy, nuts. Taste is as aroma. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a fairly interesting, different brown ale likely owing to the English malts and hops, that works pretty well.

Taster pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is clear, light brown with trace sparkle and thin cap of off-white head with fair retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is a west-coast floral/citrus with malt balance. Taste is as aroma. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with soft texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with dry, bitter tail. Overall, just OK for me. Crafted well but this floral-citrus-malt combination is fairly classic and isn't my favorite.

Taster pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is hazy golden yellow with no sparkle, thin ring of off-white head with fair retention and decent lacing. Aroma is floral, mild pineapple and fruit, strong bready malt backbone, light herbs. Taste is floral with nonspecific malt, some herb. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, some complexity but somewhat mild flavor and aroma--a little on the thin side for a DIPA.

Taster pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is opaque pale yellow with no discernible sparkle, thin ring of off-white head with fair retention and light lacing. Aroma is moderate herb and citrus. Taste is grapefruit, herb, milder citrus. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, solid. Flavor could be a little bolder, but nice.

Taster pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is very dark brown with no sparkle, beautiful creamy tan head (like Bailey's Irish Cream) with excellent retention that lasts forever and nice lacing. Aroma is dark toast/roasted malt, what seems like a pleasant mild booze, mild dark fruit, maple syrup. Taste is mild bourbon, roasted malts, hints of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, and coconut. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, soft texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, spectacular. I don't know if I've ever seen a nicer looking head. Perhaps a little thin on the body but the overall feel is really comforting. Nice complexity of aroma and flavor. Not sure if this was barrel aged but seemed like it was. If not, how did they get it this way?
