Description
The story of Bear Republic, like most other craft brewers, begins with homebrewing. It was the spark for our passion to create quality, hand-crafted beers. We are a family-owned brewery, located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. The company was established by the Norgrove family in 1995, with Richard G. Norgrove as brewmaster.

After 11 years of rapid growth, we opened our Factory 5 brewery in Cloverdale, California, where we brew and package all our beer that goes to market. We hand select our ingredients for each batch, the grains and hops we use are chosen for their unique characteristics and the recipes and formulations are patiently developed over time. Many recipes start as a home-brew and then develop into the commercial beer available in many retail outlets today. We pride ourselves in using our established methods while always looking to improve efficiencies and techniques that allow us to provide quality beer to share with the world.

Beginning 2023 thw brewery was acquired by Drake’s Brewing.

Had this so many times I forgot to rate. The first I remember distinctly was at dba in the East Village circa 2000 with, alex, alex, Tim Dave etc. Tasted like a razor blade of hops. 15 years later it’s a juicy well balanced ipa out of a bottle.

Draught from R n H. Dark pour smallish head. Fairly carbonated mouthfeel. Aroma and taste is mostly choc and light malts some coffee. Ok but not my ideal dunkel.

Draught from R&H Pours a brown, a bit more flavorful and nutty than your classic alt with a fair amount of earthiness to finish.

Nice tasty american lager. Poured gold w/moderate head, enough hops to add flavoring but without destroying the lager essence. Good stuff.

Poured a hazy yellow, little head. A hoppier version of a pilsner. Mine didn’t taste the same way as everybody elses.

Draft from Ginger 36th. Pours an opaque gold with foamy lingering head. Nose is earth and very floral hops and pine. Taste is similar with very clean finish. Not punishingly bitter at all - a good example of a hoppy beer that doesn’t try to smoke you with bitters.

Draft, dark chocolate, some mild hops. More like a porter than a brown ale but who’s counting. Oh wait, I am.
