Description

bottle - Pours dark brown with a fizzy tan head. The aroma is of roast malt, dark fruit, and alcohol. It has a roast chocolate malt flavor with a hint of fruit and noticeable alcohol. It’s medium bodied, not as heavy as most American imperial stouts. The chocolate comes to the fore more as it warms. Good.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Bright amber pour with a white head. Tropical fruit aroma with hints of tangerine and vanilla. Mouth watering fruity flavours, plenty of citrus and a little sweet spice. Bitter hop burst on the palate. Quite dry. Fruity, hop filled finish. Interesting.

bottle from magasin. murky muddy brown, smooth offwhite head. Aroma is pretty yeasty, slighlty herbal, also roasted malts and anise. flavor is roasted malty, slightly citrussy, anise, yeast, faint fruity.Flavor and aroma is about as messy as the beer looks. There is also a little grassy spicyness in there. Somewhere in this gian herbal grassy yeasty mess is hidden a decent imp.stout. I can taste it now and then.. but boy,it is wrecked.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Kerstbierfestival 2011: same as with his sibling beer – never even heard of this one, didn’t know it existed – A: clear red amber with an off-white red head – T: very sweet, even sweeter than the Calve Reserva but in a good way, candy sugar, syrup, strong caramel, wood, small hint of spices in the finish, overpowered by a small touch of whiskey – B: oily & slightly sticky, better than Calve Reserva, definitely good but still cannot play in the big boys league as far as BA beers are concerned

Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival Essen 2011. Hazy murky reddish color, small off-white head. Smell and taste a little infected and chemical. Some kind of sourness I don’t like anyway. Ok carbo, low to medium body.
