Description

Aged 2 years. Pours deep amber into a Tulip. Off-white head recedes leaving spot lacing. Dark pit fruit and booze soaked raisin aromas. Sweet dark caramel upfront turning oaky but maintaining sweet port and pit fruits. Losing a bit of it’s charm with the age, becoming a bit dusty.

A deark reddish brown ale with a thin moka head. A pleasant aroma of sweet figs, licorice with musky notes. In mouth, a sweet licorice malt with molasses, raisins, and warming alcohol. Rich and smooth. Nice orange peels also notes. A classy BW from Belgium! Tasted with Probstk, July 16 2007.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Hazy golden color with an ephemeral white head. Aroma of citrus with an accompanying note of barnyard. Near medium body with moderate carbonation. Flavor is rather orange citrus with subtle spices and mild funk. Crisp and clean. Finishes astringently dry. Very refreshing wit.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of spices and caramel. The flavor is also sweet with notes of spices, caramel and malt, as well as light notes of wood, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks KimJohansen for sharing.

11.2oz grenade bottle. Thick brown, with a big, luscious head. The aroma lets you know something different is going on, but it mixes quite well with the Belgian yeast/sugar sweetness. Smooth and quite nice, this one ups the original. One of the best Belgian stouts for sure.
