ZBF2008: From tap. Pours dark brown with a lacing light tan head. Spiced and light herbal aroma. Flavour is light caramel malt with a solid spice note. Lingering spiced into the finish. Shows a nice caramel malt base along the way. Nice.6-4-7-4-14=3.6
33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Yeasty and chocolate malt aroma. Flavour is yeasty and with a mix of caramel and chocolate malt. Light roasted to smoked note and with a mild dry note. Ends dry malty with a very minor spice note.6-3-7-3-14=3.4

On tap at ZBF 08. Not much of an Impy stout. Decent malts, not that great. Downed it quickly as needed to have Drakes Denogg - y - thingy. It’s an ok, drinkable dark beer, but a bit dull.

Draught at ZBF 2008, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium
Hazy/muddy brown body. Lightly brown head. Aroma of malts (mainly caramel, but also some stronger ones). Lightly bitter, hoppy flavour. Nicely balanced and nice complexity. But why is this called an imperial stout, it’s full of hops! A nice beer after all.

2008 Zythos Bier Festival, Belgium. Cloudy chocolate brown colour. Sweet flavour at first like fermented cola, getting bitter towards the end. Oily, vinous texture. Lacks refinement.

33cl bottle bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Poured into my T’smisje glass. Colour is unclear dark brown with a large white head & lacings. Aroma is sweet of caramel, yeast & sugar. Hints from roasted malts. Taste has some citric & ashy notes & is quite bitter. Medium bodied. Alcohol & yeast also clearly appearant. Its drinkable but again very strange & odd for an imperial stout.

Bottle. Clear dark red brown color with a huge, frothy - creamy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy hay, straw, pine needle, notes in the finish of licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, finish is dry. (Flavor is young and fresh). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to lively. (A very nice beer but a Imperial Stout ? no it’s a nice beer) (140208)

Bottle of t Smisje Halloween. A bright hazy golden ale with a thick creamy white head, and some hefty yeast chunks. A rather small faint aroma for such a strong beer, rather vegetal in character, light anise, and alcohol. In mouth, interesting but harsh, with light candy sugar, coriander, yeast, but there si some sort of raspyness which I fing unsettling. The alcohol doesn’t come out too much, nothing the strength of this beer. BB 2011. Bieropholie import.

33 cL bottle, as t Smisje Halloween. Pours hazy orange with small floating yeast sediments. A little off-white head. Sweet aroma with notes of dried fruit. Flavour is sweet caramel, malty, dried fruity to overripe and with a mellow yeast note. Light pumpkin note. Lingering fruity and yeasty finish.

A hazy dark amber ale with a thick light moka head, with fine granulate yeasts dropping at the bottom of the glass. A pleasant brown sugar, with pleasant star anis, vanilla ice cream, coriander and rum. In mouth, tingly spicy mouthfeel, with sustained coriander, pepper, and sweet perfumey malt. The 12% is not present. Bieropholie imports, no BB date.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy amber/murky brown with an off-white head. Aroma os spices and overripe fruits, solid yeast note, mild alcohol presence. Flavour is medium dry with a little fruity sweetness. Light spice note and a mellow yeasty note too. Sligth woody note, wineous too. Ends with a lingering fruity note and rather dry. 12 % ABV can hardly be sensed, enjoyable.
