Amber, clear. Creamy head, not stable. Nose with alcohol, portwine, cookies. Very sweet and alcoholic taste. Roasted malts and liqueurish. Peppery finish. Filling mouthfeel, warming, nice. An alcoholics' beer - but in the nice way. Dutch beers CAN be good.

Dark brown color, small head. Aroma of roasted malts. Bit yeasty taste and malty. Not as sour as the Burg Dubbel, and that's exactly why this beer is more like a belgian double. I thought it was quite nice, one of the better Burg brews actually.

Initially clear orange/brown color. Becomes cloudy upon yeast-depot pouring. Quickly dying head. Amber malty aroma, vanilla. Sweet and sour, amber malty taste, like a very weak and thin La Chouffe. Not really a typical double. Ok palate.

Original review text: Definitely different from the old version of the springbok, which was dark and only rated last in 2003. This version has a slight hazy golden color with a medium white head. Lively carbonation. Aroma has some hop, bit citrus, bit flowery, bit soapy hint. Cant seem to get the honey a lot, but usually that overwhelms too much, so might be a good thing rather than a bad thing. Bit dry taste, slight yeasty. Hint of honey in taste perhaps, slight bitter. Tastes a bit like a belgian blonde.
