Cute little bottle. Spicy nose, cinnamon, ginger and cardamom strongest, a hint roast. Murky opaque brown, no head. Fairly Christmassy flavours - pretty much a liquid gingerbreadhouse. If I wasn’t in the mood for dessert right now I would probably not like it. Mellow mouthfeel. Interesting idea and a good try - very much not what I am used to from a German brewer. Lets see if I sleep well after it like they promise.

Draught at the brewpub. The beer in the glass is copper-coloured, not very zippy. Starts very sweet, but the sweetness gets lost very quick. The finish is spicy and a bit metallically, also a bit moldy. Not bad!

Draught at the brewpub - 4,8% ABV. The beer in the glass is dark, almost black. Roastmalty aroma, the beer starts the same. Very short dry moment in the finish, the aftertaste is vapid, almost washy. Not so good!

Draught at the brewpub. The beer in the glass looks good, modest turbid, nice head. Aroma like lemon. Starts fresh and spicy, modest dry finish. Modest maltiness in the aftertaste. Not bad!

at the brewpub. Brown colour, small head, cloudy. Schlafmützchen translates roughly as night cap, they say it helps you sleep better. Interesting ingredients: honey, cardamom, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, clove, sage and others. Aroma of gingerbread. Full-bodied beer, the flavour really reminds me of gingerbread, but not sweet. Lovely combination of the herbs and spices and the honey. A very "christmasy" beer.

draught at the brewpub. Brown colour, hazy, large and creamy head. Flavours of roasted malt and caramel, slightly hoppy. The flavour is a bit thin and the beer seems a bit unripe to me. Still quite nice, especially to accompany the good and hearty Saxonian food they serve.

16th December 2007:draught at the brewpub. Cloudy yellow, large and creamy head. Hoppy aroma. Slightly malty with flowery hops. Rather light-bodied Pils which seems a bit unripe, unfortunately. *** 7th May 2011: 2l growler from a neighbour. Hazy golden yellow, large and creamy white head. Hoppy nose. Solid malty base with lots of resiny-grassy hops, pleasantly bitter. Smooth carbonation. A delicious Pils!
