Clear medium amber colour, small foamy off-white head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma malty, bread, earthy, herbal notes. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, orange peel, rather astringent finish, wood and herbal notes. Medium body, sticky oily texture, soft carbonation, shaky combination of sweet and bitter, didn’t like it.

Draft at Arendsnest. Very hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of grapefruit, weedy hops, citrus, orange peel and malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at ’De Heks’ at 6.2% abv. Slightly hazy, straw yellow with a medium large, creamy, stable, white head. Sweetish-malty, minimally fruity aroma of honey, vanilla and some citrus. Sweetish, fruity-malty taste of vanilla, honey and some citrus, followed by a short, slightly bitter, yeasty finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, flat. Okay, a bit dull. Seems like newer versions are brewed by ’Praght’ and differ a bit?!

On tap at Winterbierfestival Enschede 2016. Clear, very dark red with a medium large, creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of brown sugar, caramel, molasses and raisins. Sweet, fruity-malty taste of raisins, blackberries, caramel and hints of chocolate, followed by a short, slightly bitter finish. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, flat. Nice!

At a tasting, thanks, small stable bubbly head, brown to dark red and quite clear color, aroma of dried figs and dates, mushrooms and some caramel, flavor of caramel and bread, medium sweetness, light bitterness. Not much of a porter.

Almost opaque brown-dark pour, with a pleasant espresso-coloured head. Smells heavily of lactose and dark cherries, like a cheap oatmeal stout. The taste is sweet and malty, the alcohol being a bit too present. Sweet cherries and dark chocolate can also be detected, as well as vanilla and something I can only identify as artificial sweetener. The aftertaste is medicinal bitter, kind of stinging the tongue.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks rayaron. Brown. Aroma of caramel, oxidation, honey, fruitiness, toast, a bit of licorice, and alcohol. Sweet flavor with caramel, fruitiness, oxidation, a light chocolate hint, and alcohol. Medium-bodied. Not really my thing.
