[On draught at the Cricketers Inn, Easton Hampshire] Drunk this one whilst walking the Three Castles Path, after ducking into the pub to get out of a rain shower. Poured a deep gold-amber with a slight but lasting white head. Honeyed citrus flavours lead into a refreshing grassy hops finish. The unusual name apparently means something that is a waste of time or money. It’s not a term that should be given to this beer, which is a good, refreshing, easy-to-drink summer pint.

Cask. Orangeish golden colour with mediumsized white creamy head, that leaves nice lace. Aroma is fruits, sweet malts as well as some mild grassy and nectary notes. Flavour is fruity and flowery hops along with some hints of grass. An OK brew.

Amber, pours a thick smooth head. Very pleasant, found it to have much sweetness, sugary taste.

Amber color, small off-white beige head. Raisins in the nose - Finnish mead-like sweetish aroma! Woody malty, a bit harsh flavor. Overriped raisins too. Ok session ale, although nothing really exciting.

Copper brown clear color, good off-white fluffy head. Nutty hoppy nose. Nutty hoppy, a bit sweetish flavor. Decent maltyness, overall over the average sweet bitter. Slightly harsh finish. Ok .. decent.

Cask at JDW Penny Black, Bicester, 09-04-08 Pours light amber slightly hazy, some pretty good hoppiness and with a soft but tasty tang to this. [p] Bottle from the Naked Grape off licence, Alresford, Hampshire 07-06-08 Pours amber, fruity with nice bitterness, there are hops there but compared to the cask version they are much more of a periphial showing. Soft malty taste its ok and whilst not BCA its really not too bad at all, and getting a better mark than the cask version tried in my local JDW 3.2 so I’ll split the difference on overall score and call it 3.1 [/p]
