Description
A little background... In Richmond Virginia’s unbelievable beer scene, one of the pioneering brewpubs is a place called the Answer. Brandon Tolbert, as many of the craftiest craft beer folks know, was the head brewer and creative force behind this brewpub. He left the Answer a short while ago, when they started taking a different approach to making beer, and set out to do his own thing.
Well, flash forward to today and Brandon’s new creative project is imminently happening.

Can. Pours as hazy light yellow with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has citrus rind and light pine with a juicy citrus and light sweet grain underlying. Flavor has light pine upfront with slight juicy citrus, some rind and a bit of sweet grains backing.

Pour is a hazy blonde with a large white head. Aroma is like a pina colada. Coconut and pineapple all over the place. Flavor is pretty much the same. Tons of pineapple with some peach and pear. Super flavorful. Just canned on 5/21 so this is super fresh which probably helps. In the mass of hazy IPA some actually stand out and this is one that stands out.

Can pour. Appearance is opaque dead ringer for orange juice with tons of sparkle, finger-plus white foamy head with excellent retention and fair lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit, tangerine and milder grapefruit. Taste follows aroma but grapefruit is a little higher in the mix and the tangerine a little lower. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and sweet finish, mildest alcohol warmth and very light lingering bitterness. Overall, good representative of the style. Super juicy without being overly sweet. Perhaps could be a bit thicker. Mild warmth is the only hint of alcohol so it goes down super easy--beware!

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a glowing, hazy straw gold with a finger of white foam that dissipates. Big pungent fruit salad nose with loads of mango, pineapple, durian and starfruit aromas. Juicy mouthfeel with an absurd amount of hops on the palate. Super dank...more tropical fruit, durian and mikan zest on the palate. Crisp and clean with a juicy mouthfeel on the finish. Hits all the notes. Very good.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a hazy gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Very tropical nose with passion fruit, mango, strawberry and gooseberry all present. Smooth and creamy on the palate with more of the same notes. This can is a few months old, but still has bright tropical notes. Good tropical fruit skin mild bitterness on the finish to balance things out.

Can (3/12/20) pour. Appearance is opaque, juicy yellow-orange with fine mist of particulates, decent sparkle at the edges of the glass with finger-width foamy white head with good retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit, tangerine, peach, late burnt matchstick quality (as it warms). Taste is nondescript tropical fruit with stone fruit. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with lingering mild, pleasant bitterness. Overall, looks the part but is a bit thin in the mouthfeel. Components of aroma and taste are good for the style but indistinguishable. Solid but unspectacular.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours dirty/hazy grapefruit with a huge foamy white head that laced a little. Aroma is tropical/juicy. Approaching full bodied. Dryish; juicy; tropical; bitter. Melon, white grape, citrus. Quite hoppy. Pretty bitter. Not done on the cheap! Good ale.
