Description
A little background... In Richmond Virginia’s unbelievable beer scene, one of the pioneering brewpubs is a place called the Answer. Brandon Tolbert, as many of the craftiest craft beer folks know, was the head brewer and creative force behind this brewpub. He left the Answer a short while ago, when they started taking a different approach to making beer, and set out to do his own thing.
Well, flash forward to today and Brandon’s new creative project is imminently happening.

Admin Note: Beers are contract brewed at Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven, CT

Pours oily black with a thin tan white head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, toffee. Taste has enormous maple bourbon notes, some burnt malt. Palate has alcohol notes that linger, sticky bourbon elements. Not bad.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: semi-murky burnt orange color with a finger and a half's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: smells like a blend of blueberry to papaya fruity hop scents, some pine comes in underneath; light clean malts
Flavor: does a great job of blending all the prior noted aromas to a fine bittersweet juicy sort of arrangement; finishes blueberry/papaya/mango-like hoppiness
Texture: medium bodied, twas a sipper, nice low carb, fairly smooth along the tongue, very low hop bitterness
Overall: nicely done NEDIPA I would have again.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: pure black in the glass with a superb level tan foamy head of about a finger and a quarter. This head dissipated nicely to leave some spotty coated lace on the glass
Aroma: coffee sweet and coffee roasty tones up front with dark malts, milk chocolate notes, subtle dark chocolate and then the toasted coconut and maple syrup
Flavor: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; nice smoothness along the tongue
Overall: another nicely done impy stout by Short Throw and I'm glad the coconut in this was real and didn't smell or taste like "suntan lotion" like other beers with supposedly "coconut" in them which I've had in the past. Though no dates on the can, I'm guessing I had a fresher can.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: black in the pour and in the glass with a finger's worth of tan foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: coffee roast, coffee sweet, milk chocolate, nice balance of maple syrup, subtle sweet wafer far down in there
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together in a fine sweet to roasty sort of way; mild finish of the coffee roast and sweetness
Texture: about medium bodied - maybe just a wee touch under; some kind of sipping quality to this; pretty smooth along the tongue
Overall: I'm impressed that a 13.1%-er can be as sneaky as it is to possibly make me want to guzzle this. I'd come back to this.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: milky yellow blurriness with a two finger white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace.
Aroma: great dose of citrusy to piney and grapefruity hop notes; slight passion fruity to sweet grassy hop spice in the secondary then a cool crisp clean malts further underneath
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together in a good bittersweet juicy sort of way; mild finish of the grapefruity to piney and passion fruity hop vibes with a touch of zest
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; some smoothness but also a bit of hop assertiveness
Overall: pretty nicely done NEDIPA I would have again.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: murky copper cloudiness with a two and a half finger-ed head that dissipated slyly to leave some subtle lace
Aroma: grapefruit, peaches and lots of berries mesh together and roll into a clean doughy malt
Flavor: mildly bittersweet through the prior mentioned aromas; subtle citrusy and berry aftertaste
Texture: medium bodied, good as a sipper, nice low key carb, juicy smooth on the tongue, nice juicy berries finish
Overall: I dig this NEDIPA, it's one I'd return to.
