Bottle from 't Friethuisje in Wondelgem (of all places). Hazy yellow, thin, white head. Aroma of orange peel, canned pineapple, banana, cut yellow apple, wheat, honey, soap. Taste has sweet apple, banana & apricot next to sour wheat, giving off a soapy effect and yet something refreshingly zesty too, some spices in the middle. Yeasty, grassy hoppy finish, freshened again by wheat & yellow fruit, and a dash of alcohol (luckily not too strong at this low ABV!). Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. 'Correct' is the right term here, nothing special but worth the try even if only for its very local character.

Pretty cloudy peach coloured beer, small creamy white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, peaches, little floral, yeasty, some tropical fruits. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty fruity start, some tropical fruits, nice bitterness, bit of pineapple. Aftertaste: quite some tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit, bit lemony. Quite the pleasant surprise!

From what I heard, this ‘9032 Bierlab’ is the newest microbrewery in Ghent, or its submunicipality of Wondelgem to be precise (9032 is the zip code of Wondelgem); they have produced one ‘officially’ marketed beer recently, a tripel of which only a few thousand bottles were made, but this beer was launched at Gents Bierfestival as their second one. Strong gusher apparently. Large-bubbled, off-white, cobweb-lacing, very irregularly shaped ‘gusher head’ on a misty orange-tinged peach blonde beer. Aroma of peach, banana, chewing gum, ‘abrikozenjenever’, touch caramel, soap, pineapple, cloves, orange. Sweet, fruity onset, banana ester mixed with peach and pineapple notes, fizzy carbonation (remaining so well into the finish), sweetbready and lightly caramelly malt body with a soapy edge; light floral hop bitterish note in the finish, very vaguely citric, while the banana and malt sweetness linger and alcohol is clearly noticeable, which should not be the case at this ABV. Some phenolic-spicy aspects too. Typical sweet Belgian style blonde, I can imagine their tripel being in the same vein, but with a modern touch in the form of New World hops. Nothing astonishing here, but interesting enough to keep track of what these guys are doing.
