Bottle from September 2015, finally cracked on 5/4/16.
Still very well carbonated with a light beige head topping a copper-golden body, with good clarity.
Sourness breaks through in the nose adding tart yellow and red fruits and a good deal of lactic character. Wine-like fruitiness is soft and tempered by the surprisingly still-strong spicing. At this point, it’s pretty enjoyable, but I’ve got to imagine 8 months ago it must have been nigh unbearable. Spicy, rye, lavender and sage-like notes combine with white pepper, oak, tons of funk and a bit of caramel-honey.
Very intensely flavorful with a huge malty texture that shows moderate to moderately high attenuation. Caramel-honey balances big sage and lavender notes as fruity and sour bacterial/yeast notes keep things quite funky. Barrel character is reserved/light, as it always is with OEC’s beers. Heavy carbonation, as the yeast/bacteria has been hard at work chewing through the sugars. A very intensely flavored beer that could use even another 6 months or a year....

Tap at gingerman hadn’t had an OEC in awhile. Very hazy apricot looking. Nose is mandarin and grapefruit. Tastes of apricots, mandarin orange, grapefruit, sugar, yogurt, hint of cheese, and woody. Tart and full bodied for a Berliner. Quite enjoyed.
