Description
Crafted Artisan Meadery was launched in 2012 in Akron, Ohio with a dedication to producing highly drinkable, modern mead. We take the pre-conceived notion of what mead “is” and throw it out the window by creating mead styles that push the envelope of the category. Gose-inspired Mead? Why not! Bourbon-Barrel Bananas Foster Mead? Sure! Mead that isn’t so sweet that it requires diabetes screening after consumption? You got it!

We believe in creativity over tradition. We believe that the quality of the liquid inside our bottles and behind our labels is the most important thing to our customers. We believe you shouldn’t have to donate plasma to afford a great bottle of mead. We believe that opening the door to the mead category to as many people as possible is why we exist and we’re having a blast doing it! We do not produce beer, grape wine or cider. We make modern mead for everyone.

Bottle pour shared by WillRunForBeer--thanks, Brian! It's a pale yellow with light sparkle, ring of off-white head and no lacing. Aroma is strong mix of honey and vanilla/graham cracker. Taste is strong honey, lighter lime and graham cracker. Mouthfeel is light side of light side of light-to-medium with thin texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, strong flavor with good complexity and balance.

Bottle at home. Burnt gold colored. Ode is sticky sweet Cinnabon’s. Tastes very similar with honey and vanilla frosting. Maybe some maple syrup thrown in. Too sweet for my liking.

Bottle. A- Graham crackers, coconut, vanilla. A- Gold color, clear liquid, no head. T- Graham crackers, coffee, slightly earthy, coconut, cream. P- Light body, average texture, high carbonation, slightly unbalanced finish. O- This definitely tasted like coconut cream pie. The coffee is fairly strong as well in it. I get a cream cheese like flavor that I seem to get with all carbonated meads from Crafted. That detracts a bit from the overall experience. Very good all things considered.

(Thanks, Jeremy! JStax) Bottle. A- Strawberry candy, mild rubbing alcohol, subtle oak. A- Copper color, clear liquid, no head. T- Strawberry candy, honey, ethanol, very subtle spicy oak. P- Medium body, average texture, flat carbonation, boozy finish. O- This was great but not near as good as some of the other Barrel Aged still meads I've had from Crafted. The strawberry is not as lucious as I'd like. It was too candy like. Like those strawberry candies your grandparents used to have. A tad bit boozier than I wanted. Great mead but not quite there for me to really be wowed by this one.

Bottle from Covenhoven. Tasty Beverage glass @ home. Clear, rich, golden brew. Weak addition of bubbles. Smells of maple, apple malt beverage, muted cinnamon something, Woodchuck cider flavorings. Taste is faintly tart apple essence upfront, maple syrup, unfermented honey, faded cinnamon & toffee candies as you push through. Syrupy & barely tart. Sweetness lingers on the lips. Somewhat fake & really not that well done.
