Can thanks to Carlos! Pours quite hazy golden yellow, large fluffy white head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is dank, tropical, mango, guava, grass. Flavor is light sweet, and light plus bitter. Juicy. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Quite good.

Moderately hazy, bright, lemon-to-brass-golden. Really big, well-retained, white head. That right there was probably 75% of the reason for the gold medal. And the very low haziness for the style.
Initially, the nose is a bit piney and with more grapefruit than I'd prefer, as well. Malts seem supportive, though, and well-attenuated, and there's no heavy yeast, no dough, no huge bubble gum or butter. With time, the pine seems to fade and it grows sweeter and juicier, perhaps as the malt warms up to balance it better. Good strength of aroma, though maybe not my favorite expression of NE IPA. This is mostly just citrus and not even that orange juice smoothie-like. Come on, bro. But it's good, and very respectable with no alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth, it slowly loses its tangy papaya that is rather heavy initially. Pine subsides, as well, giving way to the fairly rich maltiness. Yet it's well-attenuated, tightly carbonated and shows no flaw or alcohol. Crisp, clean and bright, maybe a touch too sweet and malty; could do with more zesty, juicy hops, but hard to complain here. Between the good head retention, low haze, straightforward, sort of piney-grapefruity-papaya-like hops and no real NE IPA yeast character, it's easy to see why it won gold at GABF. It's like an NE IPA for people who hate NE IPAs. But it's still a very well-brewed beer, so respect anyways.

473ml can from Cans & Bottles, Chicago. Smooth, juicy and tropical fruity with some orange peel, grapefruit, citrus, grass, herbal notes and creamy lactic notes. Super smooth and fresh juicy. Nice one.
