Decent porter, too much tart cherry but a massive amount of roasted malt to give it a nice smokey base. Somewhat thin, somewhat watery; probably skippable unless you dig light smokey porters.

Pretty good hefe, with a nice mix of banana-clove wheat beer notes on top of deeper, smokier malt flavors. Caramel and red apple show up in the middle, while the finish grows a firm floral bitterness, leading to a yeasty, semidry fade. Creamy feel, classic hefeweizen nose. Not bad.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, courtesy of Simon. Pours deep brown, small tan head. Smoky aroma, charred malts. Taste is similarly smoky, woody, deep malts, some mild chocolate, nice charred ash on the finish. Very decent.

Bottle from the Caley Picture House. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - roast anda meat stock note. Dome biscuit at the back. Taste - more roast, some charcoal and still a meaty note. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - good porter though it has elements of dry stout.

Keg, unfined, half pint at the Granite City (JDW), Aberdeen Airport. 6.4% ABV. Deep golden colour, only slightly hazy. White head. Aroma with notes of strawberry jam, not unpleasant though. Malty and fruity flavour, notes of banana and jam, decent hops throughout. Good beer.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced via Ocado. Pours clear orange/gold with a creamy, off-white head. Interesting about, some wheat bread, lightly toasted grains, citrus meringue. Light-medium sweet flavour with further meringue, melon, tangerine, some husk, dirty wheat flakes. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with more ripening citrus, meringue, grainy bread. Pretty enjoyable stuff on the whole.

Keg at the Counting House. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light roast, faint chocolate. Taste is coffee and dark chocolate, cola. Roasted bitter, thin finish.

Keg at the Granite City. The aroma is soft, sweet, wheat, candied orange peel, bready, grass and green banana. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter - sweet, zesty, candied lemon, spicy, grassy, herbal, biscuit, banana bread and minerals with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Fairly inoffensive, but just not very quenching. Fair.
