Bottled. A dark brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet and very malty combined with notes of caramel, as well as light notes of alcohol and spices. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, leading to a lightly bitter finish.

750 ml bottle from Corti Bros., Sacramento. LIght citrus and berries in the aroma, along with lightly roasted, toffee?, malt. Orange tinged golden color with a white head that collapsed. Medium body with creamy carbonation. The flavor starts with light caramel, berry and citrus fruits, and light hot spice notes. Ok, it’s also a tad earthy. It’s also clean (but not crisp), and very refreshing. The finish is mildly sweet, and there seems to be enough bitter to balance. It’s very pleasant to drink.

65 cL bottle. Pours black with a huge brown head. Sweet molasses aroma, a slight bit of spice too. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Flavour is breadish at first, it then goes sweet and reveals a sweet molasses flavour. Dark malty and dry notes of raisins and plum. Underneath is soft spice flavour and a very minor yeasty note, but both appear more mellow than in a classic belgian brune. Quite nice.

Bottle from Auchan, Calais, drunk at Chris_o’s HogTownHarry meet up. Hazy pale gold, lasting white head. Some lemon on aroma, bit of cereal. Some cereal in mouth, smooth, like some oatmeal. Good lemon icing on end.

Medium to good yellow head; deep amber-chestnut colour. Roasted, roasted chestnuts or oats, duckfat. Roasted taste, caramel, but not cloying; ending a bit nutty. Little sticky MF all the same, rather well-bodied. Not too sweet which is good.
