Brauerei Reichenbrand (Reichenbrander)
Regional Brewery
in Chemnitz,
Saxony,
Germany 🇩🇪
Associated Venue: Bräu-Stübl Reichenbrand
Established in 1874
Bergt Bräu from Reichenbrand, still a household name for many Chemnitz residents. Never completely gone, but gone for a moment. Not voluntarily, because in the GDR everything had to belong to everyone. With this, Bergt Bräu became Reichenbrander in the “80s” and “90s”. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Bergt Bräu has been back, at least in the trademark of the Reichenbrand brewery and thus on the labels again - albeit unnoticed by some. So in 2020 we thought it was time to start the Bergt Bräu revival in a new outfit.

Bottle: Delicate sweet pale malty, a bit bready, too, with a distinctive aromatic hoppiness, small white layer, sticking to the glass,; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, solid malty base, light to medium bodied; distinctive bready/malty and lingering aromatic hoppy finish: A fine and pleasant example of a "german" Bohemian Pils....................

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, small foamy layer; sweet-fruity (black berries) and dark-malty nose; moderate sweetish flavour, medium bodied; moderate - again - sweet-bitter finish with a touch of metal and vegetables: Not very impressive, not very tasty, but quite well drinkable, nevertheless..........

(bottle, received via pivnizub) Clear, pale golden colour with a fluffy, but unstable foamy white head. Slightly sweet malty, grainy aroma with a touch of honey. Light bitter flavour, very light bodied with a refreshing carbonation. Soft malty, slightly grainy taste with a light herbal background; dry and slim, light bitter finish. Very light and slim but definitely not watery nor empty.

(bottle, a Mitbringsel from pivnizub) Clear, pale golden with a foamy white medium head. Sweet malty, slightly buttery aroma with herbal hops. Moderately bitter flavour, medium to light body, well-carbonated mouthfeel. Light Bohemian-like malt character with herbal notes; dry and bitter, quite aromatic herbal hoppy finish. A quaffable Pils from Karl-Marx-Stadt in the Bohemian style.

(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a medium-sized beige foamy head. Sweet, dark-malty, slightly roasted aroma with caramel and light spicy hop notes. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Strong malt-accented taste with caramel and dense notes of dried fruits; sweetish malty and light bitter finish. Not that convincing for a dark Bock.

Das am Anfang malzig hopfige Bier wirkt im großen und ganzen recht mild, der Mittelteil und der Nachgeschmack werden von mittlerer Bitterkeit regiert. Der Geschmack ist ein wenig eigen, Mittelmaß. Test vom 2.12.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 13,8,8,7,11,8 - 8,50

Schmeckt relativ mild, läuft am Gaumen vorbei ohne besonders aufzufallen. Der Nachgeschmack ist kaum vorhanden, sehr wässrig. Zum genießen brauch man ein anderes Bier. Test vom 11.12.2004, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,7,8,6,11,8 - 7,80

Bitterer Anfang der nicht sehr überzeugt, im Nachgeschack schön hopfig herb, auch wenn selbiger nicht lange anhält. Lässt sich mit leben. Auf jeden Fall besser als das Classic Pilsner der selben Firma. Test vom 11.12.2004, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,7,8,12,9,9 - 9,00
