At Hinkelstein, Marburg, I guess. Golden. Sweet apple aroma, vague vinegar-like, corky and not too appealing. Shitty sourish watery apple taste... Man, after Elm KultApfel Cidre Mild I had high expectations for Hessisch apple wines / ciders, even while realizing that that one’s probably the top of the class, but I couldn’t find a match. Not that I was looking for one in the most common, cheapest local apple wine.

At a students pub in Marburg. Misty pale yellow body, sickly sticky sweet apple aroma, vinegary. Light, juicy sourish green apple taste, pleasant, very light glue. Not bad at all, actually refreshing!

Bottle (10dl): Pale golden with a greenish sheen, some carbonation in the very first moment visible, dry and clean sourish-fruity (apples, what else?) nose, some sulphur detectable, traces of grapes underneath; dryish sourish-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, almost a bit fizzy; sourish-sweetish finish, sulphur returning and a distinctive, but mild tartness in the vinous aftertaste. Still a nice cider...

Bottled. Yellowish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is apples, some tannins, mild rubber as well as some rather white wine like notes. Flavour is white wine like notes as well as some slight apples.

Cute 1l bottle from a Tegut in Jena. Ochre-tinged slightly hazy golden body. Burnt popcorn nose, sulphur. Light sourish appley taste. Not as bad as the nose. Drying. Sourish aftertaste, bit yoghurt-like. Eh. Not undrinkable, not appealing.

Bottle 100cl.Clear light to medium golden yellow colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate apple, apple skin, light rubber - swim float, light earthy, cheese notes. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light light acidic with a long to average duration, sharp, tart apple, thin, dry. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Tasted from 1l bottle @ Frankfurt Airport Lounge. Ha! A nice little treat well hidden behind all the Becks. This is clouded pale yellow cider with no head what so ever. Aroma has yeasty apples, a little alcohol and strange hints of cabbage and vanilla? Really flat on the carbonation and a near sticky mouthfeel. Sour and light yeasty on the flavors. Apples yes, and it has some notes of white sugar and rhubarb in the finish. Mah, drinkable but not as treaty as I had hoped.

End of the bottle, it pours a flattish muddy yellow color. The typical Hessen cider, where the acidity and light fruit touch turn into an aroma with some plastic. The flat liquid gives the impression of having a rounder body, but the flavor is not amazing, reminding me a sour white wine, obviously with less alcohol. Poor.

Pale blond color. From the distance it already smells cheap; closer, it smells of plastic and hazelnuts. Very low carbonation, no apple flavor, and some acidity, as if there was an infection. Terribly undrinkable.
