Description
Alpine Beer Company began with Patrick and Valerie McIlhenney in 1999. We are a small-town brewery, nestled in the foothills of the mountains just outside of San Diego. From IPAs to small-batch sours, we’ve been crafting high-quality ales since 1999. Known as the “Home of Pure Hoppiness,” people travel from near and far to try our special brews. Now you can bring home a little taste of hoppiness from Alpine.

In 2014 Alpine Beer Company and Green Flash officially joined forces, allowing for the expansion that Pat had been working on to become an immediate reality.

In December 2021, Alpine Beer Co. was acquried by Atlanta-based SweetWater Brewing Co.

An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma is acidic and dominated by caramel - and so is the flavor. It lacks the berry notes I expect from an Irish Red.

Draft. Amber gold with a big white head. Citrus hop aroma. Citrus flavor with pine resin and some sweet malt. Dry, but somewhat grassy finish. Good bitterness. Possibly some summer fruits.

Noogfest Clear medium yellow color with a good white head. Aroma is strong hops Amarillo maybe?? The flavor is well balanced and the hops give it a nice dry finish. Very well done.

A hazy orange beer with a huge light orange head. The aroma is lovely grassy and hoppy - like sticking your head in a hop plant. The flavor is sweet and extremely hoppy and grassy combined with notes of oil, caramel, and citrus.

Bottled. Deep golden, creamy head. Big grapefruity hop aroma. Clean, rounded, rich, solid maltiness. Very hoppy with extremely bitter finish that turns to ink.

Orange yellow, medium rough head fading quickly to a thin persistent layer, drippy lace left on the glass. Orangey and grassy hop aromas - also a darkish earthy aroma, possibly from the malt. Grassy and peppery hop flavors are at the forefront, light citrus hops barely present. Malt is very clean and light, a degree of caramel malt rises just prior to the finish, which features a bracing IBU bitterness. Palate is nicely smooth with malt, rather than the thickish tingly hop juice that is somewhat more common. I appreciate the use of noble hops to restrain the otherwise harsh Cascade and Columbus.
