Markhaven Summer Fun 2012. Dark copper with a small off-white head. Rather clean aroma of toffee and dried fruit, with a hint of something herbal, perhaps rosemary. Sweetish dried fruit and malt flavour with notable alcohol.

Bottle. A black one, topped by a dark tan head of moderate size. Rather hoppy on the nose, with pine cones, resin and some fluor notes. Roasted malts, coffee and some alcohol. Full-bodied, warming and maybe a bit hard on carbonation. The flavor too has lots of hops, both hop flavor and bitterness, to deal with the moderate sweetness, the roasted malts and coffee. Except that the warming feeling is too intense, it’s a fine beer, that would probably do well with some months in the cellar. 120623

Bottle. An unclear, orange-golden beer topped by a dense, finger-thick, off-white head. Fruityness in the aroma, some tropical fruits and canned pear notes, as well as some dried fruits, pale malts and sugar. It’s not sweet on the palate, it’s rather dry actually, with some alcohol warmth and a lightly dusty, chalky feeling. Some bitterness in the flavor, coming stronger towards the end. Else it’s fruityness dominating. A quite decent one, but too warming on the palate, and a bit unclean. Still, quite drinkable. 120623
