Bottled. A deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, leading to a dry yet sticky end.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Pours a clear, dark, nutty brown with an off-white head. Unclean, fusty aroma with some roasted malt. Medium body with some burned caramel and then again this typical french fustiness. 230407

Foxy-chestnut colour; smaller yellowish-creamy head. Heavily oxydized nose. Apparently no BBd, but beer seems to have been bottled March ’04. Hmmm. Nutty, buttery, cooking quality Madeira aromas. Sweet, malty, madeirised, very malty as in Kraftmalz; tastes as some artisanal or homemade cola drink. Bit watery MF, light bodied, but a background slickness, nearly cloying. All consistent with an ungraciously (sorry for the plagiarism, CC) aged. "Bière de Garde" means a beer fit for keeping. If a beer is near exhausted after 2 years, then I won’t call it fit for laying down. Sod it, I’ve berated people for calling every malt drink from Northern Gallia "BdG", but it would seem some brewers aren’t being any wiser.
