Description

Probably from a box. Grote Dorst. Colour of well mashed tea. No head. Nose has muscovado sugar. Chestnut honey. Sour apple. Some sweaty leather. Taste is sweet, initially, with an intense, leafy, leathery bitterness. Medium body. Fairly oily. Fine carbonation. Lingering leathery bitterness to finish. Tasty gear.

Bottle at the Poechenellekelder. Quite a surprise. Has a faro feel to it somehow. Nice funkiness in the nose, musty, bit of coconut, almond. Taste has a touch of sweetness, hint of coconut again, not aggressive at all. Apples. Cider like elements even. Quite soft carbonation. Marzipan, very light citrus. Interesting. Further down it becomes a bit sourer, but still very interesting.

Bottle from Ohtsuki. Golden colour, big bubbly white head. Aroma is more vinegary than I expected, grapefruit, bit of funk, mostly sourness. Taste is full on sour, not as much spritziness as expected. Lots of citrus, maybe more lemon than grapefruit, but grapefruit lingering there. Musty. All the usual. Haven't had this recently, and whilst it is very nice, it's not my favourite gueuze.

Gravity bag at Luppolo Station in Rome. Golden/orange opalescent and bright color with a bubbles lacing. Nose: fruity and dollar, red fruits aroma (cherries). Mouth is terrific, rustic fruitiness, hay, overall is very consistent and refreshing with a mild peppery tartness finish.
