Can at home picked up from Costco advent calendar. A mostly clear pale yellow straw coloured pour with a decent white froth. Aroma is nice clean cereal grains, twist of lemon verbena, hay, grass. Flavour is composed of crisp cereal grains, twist of lemon, cereal, mineral,. Palate is light and crisp, highish carbonation. Really nice.

Green can (as Erl Hell), 500ml; from a Costco Advent Calendar. Drank in the afternoon sun on 21st December 2021 by my daughters pool, Laguna Hills, California. Clean and clear golden body, white head that tried to stay the distance. More grainy than hoppy, some grassy notes, but it's on the sweeter side of the Helles brews I've encounted. I enjoyed it, sat with my 6 year old granddaughter while she played in the garden.

500 ml from the Costco Advent calendar. Aroma is bready, grassy. Pours lightly hazy golden with a two finger cream white head with excellent retention. Taste has a candy sweetness with faint bitterness. Good for the style.

Can behind day 18 of the Costco boost calendar with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, clean, soft, sweet, American cream soda, icing sugar, custard creams, lemon curd, floral and grassy. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, clean, bitter - sweet, clean, soft sweet doughy malt, grass, straw, honeysuckle, touch of American cream soda and custard cream biscuits with a dry finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Lovely stuff. Flavourful and rounded. Eminently drinkable.

Half liter can from the Costco Advent calendar. Fresh, bright nose, fluffy, biscuity malt, light hops of lemon and herbs. Clear gold, medium head. Flavor is somewhat sweet, lemony, medium malt. Creamy. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Not blowing my mind, to be sure, but not bad at all for a canned German helles bought in Japan.

A stuff-up from the Aldi/ Kalea Christmas pack. Labelled Erl Hell, but I guess it's _their_ Dunkel. Mid brown. Clear with a beige head that fades to a fat coat that hangs around. Moderately sweet but a little roasty with decent spicy bitterness. Pleasantly creamy texture. Pretty good.

Bottle, picked up from Appel Getränkemarkt, Moosburg and consumed at home after the brilliant beer & food tasting at Hotel Ostermeier, Gütlsdorf, Saturday 27th November 2021. Pours dark gold in colour, not perfectly clear, mid sized white head. Quite sweet from the off, honey taste, hops lacking. Full bodied but in a rather flabby kind of way, a little spiciness detected, maltiness. It's okay but a bit of a 'one trick pony'.

I guess this is the right beer. Costco advent calendar. 500 ml can. Clear pale gold with a white head. Sweet tea, green leaf, grain, baking bread nose. Sweet grasses and leaves, grain. Sweet.

Klare goldene Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Getreidiger, leicht hopfiger Geruch. Geschmacklich getreidig, würzig, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure.

Die Optik gibt ein klares Goldgelb wieder. Feine Perlage steigt langsam nach oben. Die weiße, fein- bis mittelporige Schaumkrone zeigt sich dabei flaumig-stabil und ganz gut haltbar. Der sehr getreidige, mehlig-brotige, staubig-spelzige, süßliche Duft verschafft einem das Gefühl, direkt in den Maischebottich zu tauchen. Bierwürze pur! Der Antrunk wirkt angenehm spritzig, frisch und sehr getreidig. Auch am Gaumen dominiert die getreidig-malzige Note. Dazu eine kräftige Würze und einer sanft mitschwingenden Hopfenaromatik, welche leicht heuige, kräuterartige bis gewürzige Noten mitbringen. Die leichte Süße schafft eine hohe Trinkfreude und gemeinsam mit der kräftigen Würze und der überaus ausgewogenen Aromatik erreicht dieses Bier auch einen wunderbar vollmundigen Charakter, der auch die Süffigkeit hoch hält. Im Abgang spielen die unterschiedlichen Aromen noch einmal sehr schön zusammen und dieses Bier wirkt noch lange in seinem vollem Umfang nach. Erst nach längerer Zeit stellt sich eine angenehme, leicht grasige, krautige, kräuterartige, frische Hopfenherbe ein. Auch wenn es vielleicht das typische Märzen bzw. Festbier ist, ist es ein wahnsinnig gutes Bier, welches mit seinem sehr dichten Körper und bereits leichter Komplexität überrascht und überzeugt!
