Description
In the middle of the old part of Bamberg, directly beneath the mighty cathedral, one can find the historic smoked beer brewery Schlenkerla. First mentioned in 1405 and now run by the Trum family in the 6th generation, it is the fountain of Original Schlenkerla Smokebeer (in German language it's called "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier"). The smoked beer is here at the brewery tavern still being tapped directly from the wooden barrel according to old tradition.

Bottle from onemorebeer.pl Nalane do szklanki Grodziskie oraz do orginalnej prosto z Bamberga. Co do piany jest trwala i solidna, jak zawsze wschlenkerli. Zlotawe i jaskrawe z lekka metnoscia, subtelnym aromatem wedzonego sera. W smaku delikatne, lekko wodniste ale caly czas z nieustajaca wedzona nuta ktora wprawia w taniec wloski w nosie. Super wrazenia, glownie nosowe

0,5l bottle at home. BB 04/2026. yellow lightly hazy color, medium big white head. smells lightly smoky, sausages, spices, light hay, flowery, very nice smell. medium to full body, forward carbonation. tastes earthy, soapy, burned malts, peppery, smoke notes, tobacco, charred wood, ashy. finishes rather bitter with notes of charred wood, pepper and earthy notes. rather intense charred wood notes, rather on the bitter side, not that easy to drink, lacks some balance for me. Overall still rather good one.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a really large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Stroma of smoked malt notes with light wheat notes. Taste is also a mix of lightly sweet wheat malt notes with some smoked notes. Body is light with some oily notes and good carbonation. Excellent smoked wheat ale and very easy to drink with plenty of character.

Can to mug.
Appearance: rich rustic semi-dark copper/amber color with a two and a half fingers of off-white foamy head which dissipated fairly slow to leave just a little bit of concave lace which slid with the sips.
Aroma: bacon and ham up front with side notes of caramel, some apples, slight woody smokiness and a touch of light earthy hops
Flavor: blends all the prior noted aromas together smoky and sweet and adds in an ever slight touch of brown sugar; super mild aftertaste of bacon, ham and some brown sugar
Texture: medium bodied; fairly sessionable; very smooth along my tongue; finishes semi-crisp with fantastic earthy and brown sugary notes
Overall: as much as I love this beer, and love what this brewer puts out it does bother me that this beer was not marketed to the Europeans first. If the brewer ever reads this beer, you need to dance with the hands that brung ya, don't forget your original fans.

Appearance: pale rustic copper color with a super subtle transparency about it; a two and a half fingers of white foamy head dissipated at a nice pace to leave some messy lace
Aroma: substantial smokiness sat atop some biscuity/bready maltiness and blended with some light grassy hops; notes of glazed bacon and sweet ham come out with more warmth
Flavor: takes all the prior mentioned aromas to make the beer smoky sweet and meaty; mild aftertaste of ham and sweet smoke
Texture: light to medium bodied; slight sessionability about it; pretty smooth along my tongue; finishes crisp and semi-dry
Overall: another great beer by Aecht Schlenkerla that I would love to have again.
