Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours rather copper with a white head. Aroma might be agave syrup. Med body, maybe less. Flavor is some caramel, something suggesting Blue Agave syrup. IMHO Agave should be reserved for production of Tequila! Not at all bitter.

Bottle split at the brewery, 03/02/16 - cheers ! Pitch black topped with a dirty tan swirl - textbook impy look ! Nose is rich roast, spice, dark toffee fudge, molasses, booze tunes. Taste comprises light coffee, toasted brown sugar, molasses, rich malt, toffee. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light hop coating and rising alcohol in the close. Solid impy.

Keg at Beer Craft, Santa Rosa, 03/02/16. Black topped with a decent tan swirl. Nose is chocolate milk shake, light roasted notes, toffee fudge, big cocoa presence. Taste comprises more big milk chocolate notes, not as sweet tasting as the nose may have suggested, bitter sweet balance is good, airy malts, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid flavoursome stout with a great chocolate profile.

Bottle shared in CA - cheers! Pours deep brown with a frothy, beige cap. The nose gives off hard, ashy roast and dry cocoa. Light sweet flavour with assertive scorched earth bitterness, more ash, baking cocoa, woody dryness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Hard ashy roast continues in the finish, with more bitter earth and chocolate. A good working man’s stout.

Bottle shared in CA - cheers! Pours clear, orange-gold with a creamy topping. Nice juicy citrus and pine in the aroma, with accents of earthy hops. Moderate sweet with some lightly toasted malts, rindy orange, oily pine, tangerine, bitter grass. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Moderately resinous to close out, with more pine and rindy citrus, light alcohol, background bready malts. A good, punchy old-school IPA. Done well.

Bottle shared in CA - cheers! Pours lightly hazy amber with some sediment and a big, foamy tan head. Bit of tangy rye in the nose, some berries. Light sweet flavour with bitter earth, grains, pine, toasty crackers. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Earthy finish with more bitter pine, some flinty minerals, grainy toast. Just OK overall. I wondered if this one was a little aged - the hop character seemed a little faded.

Bottle shared at the brewery - many thanks to the brewer himself! Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Nice citrusy hops in the nose, with touches of pine needles and dry, pale bread as well. Light sweet flavour with some pithy citrus, grassy bitterness, hay, minerals. Light bodied with average carbonation. Dry and pithy on the finish, with notes of tangerine and straw. Tasty and easygoing.

Keg at Beercraft. Pours deep brown with a frothy tan head. The nose holds roasty malts, a bit of cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with some gooey chocolate, roast, scorched earth. Medium bodied with average carbonation and chalky texture. Bitter ashy roast in the close, with more bittersweet baking cocoa. Not bad, but a little brash.
