Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.
Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.
In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.
Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Pours cloudy dull orange with a thick off white head. Aroma of grapefruit upfront as expected with light dough, citrus and light plastercine yeast notes. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Big grapefruit palate with some orange peel aspects. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Double comparative tasting between version 1 with Caramunich 3, 150 EBC and version 2 Carafa spec 3 , 1500 EBC . Points are mentioned separately below, the above points are average from both. BBD are undecipherable on both stops. Version 1 Small yellow-beige head, fed by very fine pearling, beautiful clear foxy red-amber beer. 4/5 Rich sugary, syrupy, alcoholic nose; slight signs of oxydation. 8/10 Alcohol, sugars, very liqueurish character. Hops are very much in retreat; rich, lightly coloured malts, restsugars. 7/10 Burning backthroat feeling, heavy alcoholwarming. Rich, viscous feel 4/5 Typical strong BW, but nothing outlandish. 15/20 Version 2Quite thick yellow-cream head, leaving rings of lace over fine and lively carbonated clear, but deep chestnut-coloured beer. 4/5 Foxy, grapey nose, C-hops with lunaria, nectarines and in the background alcoholic sweetness. 9/10 Roasted, bitter flavours, bitter almonds with a flowery lining, hint at quinine. Gradually the sweetness wins it from the bitterness. 7/10 Alcoholwarmth, slowly but steadily growing. Very slick to viscous feel 3/5 Remakable nose, afterwards converting to more conventional BW features. 15/20

Fluffy, gradually darker beige head over black-redbrown beer. Islay malt jumping out of the glass, tarr, phenols. More Islay malt, tarr, etc,, but also a strange liquorice-like sweetness lurking underneath. Chocolate (black) in the finish. Wood & tannine, also very present in the MF. Slick, alcoholheat, viscous. Quite good - peathaters, wegblijven!

Small off-white rim; utterly muddy, (weak) tea-coloured beer; Hops, citrus - could be grapefruit, but also lemon/lime - rosehips. Very bitter, hopoils, tannines and another bitterness that indeed is as grapefruit (inner)peel. It might be suggestions, but I’m thinking (black) tea again - strong one, this time. Quite spritzy feel, slick but light body. Bitterness turns towards astringency. Quite serious IPA - not for those searching for half measures or mellowness!

Pours a slightly hazy orangey amber color, topped with a small froth off-white head. It quickly disappears. Very pleasant and palpable fruity aroma - sweet tropical fruits in there. Taste is gentle, slight sweetness at the start, fairly mild hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very nice and extra enjoyable.
