Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

500ml bottle - An old ale? Really? I thought it tasted like another bitter and a good one at that. The aroma is mostly malt, but the flavor has a nice balance of lightly roasted malt and crisp hops bitterness. It’s medium bodied and finishes dry.

This ale poured a deep red colour with a big foamy tan coloured head. To the nose you can get scents of caramel, butter, slightly smoked malt, coffee and a little cocoa. First taste is very smooth with flavours of roasted malts with caramel and a little coffee. The finish is a little bit hoppy with a bitter flavour lingering. Very Good!

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with an off-white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of notes of caramel with some dry malt. Taste is a nice mix between some dry malt with some subtle notes of caramel and what I believe to be a Fuggles hops ending. Average body with some medium carbonation. Well done and easy to drink.

500ml bottle from K-Citymarket, Vantaa, Finland. I didn’t come all the way to Helsinki just to find this beer, but it was a pleasant surprise to find it in the supermarket. Gold with a loose white head; intense grapefruit aroma; sweet caramel body, thick and chewy with rich fruit - dates and figs; tghe finish is long and bitter but not overpowering. An excellent Yorkshire bitter.

Amber chestnut in colour with a hoppy, grassy aroma with a hint of freshly brewed tea. Fairly hoppy taste with light maltiness and some citrus tones. Pleasant aftertaste. Not bad at all.

Brown...actually looks like a pepsi with less carbonation, tan head...I smell rich malts, caramel-like...and sweet and like candy...molasses on the palate, quite pungent balanced well with just a touch of bitterness on the finish...over ripe bitter bananas...refreshing texture, leaves a taste that encourages to keep on sippin’

Cask-conditioned at the Plume of Feathers, Bristol. Amber coloured with a minimal head. Aroma had some fruitiness and floral hops. Flavour had some biscuity malt and a dry slightly hoppy finish. Ok.
