Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

Bottle from Tesco, Brooklands. Aroma combines chocolate, coffee, herbs and a hint of liquorice. Darkest brown. Opaque. Foamy off-white head soon recedes. Medium-heavy bitter. Liquorice and herbs. Coffee. Slightly metallic. All a tad muted. Light. Thin. Average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Alright. A damp squib of a Black IPA.

Cask handpull at Old Thameside Inn Borough Market.. Clear deep brown ruby colour lasting tan head. Slight diacetyl whiff on aroma. Good condition in mouth. Dryness on the finish is pleasant some rich malts in the mouth. Yes it's a decent 4 per cent malty beer for the winter with a little buttery diacetyl
