Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

From bottle at Knights Tower 14.10.22. Clear orange amber. Foamy beige head. Very fine aroma and taste of pale malt, rye bread and tawny Sevilla marmalade. Very drinkable. Decent hop bitterness is lingering on.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A dark reddish chestnut pour with a tight cream head; cocoa powder aroma; smooth and chocolatey in the mouth with a thin dry body; and a cocoa aftertaste.

Sample from bottle at SBWF 2022. Poured black in color. Smooth body and mouthfeel, milk chocolate and light roastedness, milky sugary. Not too sweet. Pretty good.

500ml bottle from Drewton's Farm Shop, drunk at our lodge near Skirlaugh. Clear gold pour, large white frothy head. Floral nose. Fresh floral feel overall, plenty of nelson sauvin coming through, subtle juicy moments, perhaps a hint of gooseberry but overall clean, fresh, floral and pintworthy with a nice bitter close.
